I did a 110km race earlier this year, called the Race of Six Friends. 2000m of climbing, 20km on gravel. My team of six (hence the name) had eight flats.

Yesterday, I went out with the bunch. Seven flats in the bunch over 70km. I rode over glass, flatted. Checked the tire, switched to my spare tube, good to go. Missed a shard of glass in a different spot on the tire. Patched my tube, used my second C02 cannister to inflate it. Just as I was putting the tire back onto the wheel, I told the bunch to go on ahead - my man needed to open the shop. I didn't seat the tire's bead properly, so fucked up the inflation. 30km from home. No spare tube, no more CO2, no pump.

Cold train ride home.

This morning was perfect though. 105km, 870 m climbing according to MapMyRide (though my friend's Strava log says 17,04m gain, so who knows).

You guys are hardcore. I'm just getting into biking, and have a ways to go, especially since I'm lugging around on a 15-year old Schwinn mountain bike on otherwise paved paths!

I did 13 miles over hilly terrain (according to my app 1200 feet elevation, not sure how that computes though).

my average ride I do 3-5 times per week is ~46 miles, 1500 ft climbing, average 20-21mph (basically z2/3 with z5 sprints in there)

I don't plan on racing too much more this season so I enjoy riding up and down the coast now sprinting/TTing

on weekends I mix it up a little with the local group A ride or longer route w/ more climbing

You could also try some mr.tuffy tire liners. I have had good luck with them recently.

30 miles in just under an hour and a half, first time back on the bike after getting hit by a car a couple weeks ago.

luckily my injuries weren't too severe. have a couple new scars on my knee and a sprained AC joint but it's mostly healed now
