I think your reaction may be unwarranted. [IMG]

I know that not being able to hear a person's voice can make it seem like you are being attacked, but I assure you that you are not.

I see; I think charcoal would have been too formal/dark. So you have trouble finding your size (and I guess it's not because your size is so big), even in Japan? That sucks.

I think we all recognize that there's a bit of a contradiction in formality levels between the lighter suede oxfords and a navy pinstripe suit. But it's also a well known culturally acceptable combination in many European countries. In Sander's case, I think the particular colors look nice.

Maybe this is well-worn territory, but after reading and taking part in commentary/criticism I'd like to humbly offer up my guide to providing feedback. If anything, it might be more directed to people like myself who hesitated to do so for a long time.

    1. Don't be shy or worry that you're too new/inexperienced to offer your opinion.
    2. We know it's "just your opinion" so there's really no real need to express that sentiment (or certainly no more than once) to soften the blow. It reminds me of basic essay instruction: don't use "I think" - you're writing it, we know you think it.... which leads us to:
    3. Your opinion may very well be crap, in which case someone else should/will say so and then we have a discussion!
    4. Attack the clothes but never the person, unless that person is @Caustic Man, then go nuts.
    5. Assume that the feedback is given in good spirit with a smile, even when it's from @DonCologne who never smiles ;)
    6. While it's relatively easy to parrot the established "rules" of CM (and it's not wrong to do so), start by taking in the whole of the fit and gauge your reaction to it so you can decide first whether breaking a rule actually pushes established boundaries in a positive way.
    7. Find something you like about the fit if at all possible and throw that in there too; encouragement goes a long way.
    8. If there's a certain aesthetic you're shooting for that differs enough from the norm, such that others' feedback is appreciated but not helpful, then make that known so future feedback can be.

On a side note: If you've never been, check out WAYWT on the SW&D side of the forum. They're a bit pricklier with their criticisms but it's fun times, and since they play in a much larger sandbox in terms of an acceptable range it's been a good way to broaden my view of how people wear their clothes. In turn, that's helped me quite a bit to understand what I like and don't like.

Cheers, ya'll. I like iHangin' with you doods.

@thinntall I believe that shirring is a shirt shoulder or "manica camicia". Or it might be "spalla camicia". One of the two
