Clags, glad to see that you are warming to the green suit. Your combinations with it are superb.

+1. It would be really great if someone more computer savvy than me could darken Anden's tie and post it so we get the visual...

What would you suggest as an alternative to that belt? brown calf skin? Something pebble grain and not suede?

Only change I would make, because it's more my speed, is a suede with more pop: Vass mid brown or GG/Carmina Polo suede.

It might even already be that suede and the camera/screen is showing it differently. Looks clean to me.

Murl, thats about as classic as it gets. Personally, I like the suede belt and shoes, but if you were so inclided, a dark brown calf leather belt with some texture, nothing shiny, would probably apease mafoos delicate sartorial palate. The Farnese tubo on NMWA for example.

I would pick a different leather in a different shade and texture. Darker brown, polished calfskin would work. Pebble-grain would suffice, maybe in a warmer chestnut color. Alligator/crocodile would be great. The concept is to add enough difference to complement but not so much as to clash.

Alternatively, you could move away from a leather belt altogether. Ribbon, surcingle, woven fabric, etc. are no-brainers, assuming they aren't too casual for your context.

Not sure what this is supposed to prove. That is horrifyingly ugly.

See above. I would definitely not pair two different suedes. Better that they match if you are going down that route.

Purple can be found in a lot of country clothing so it's not off limits, it's a different issue if you only appreciate it in a different context.

Cheers, I like your take on things. Always learning myself.

Regarding the contrasting navy tie and jacket—absolutely agree they need at least a contrast in texture—do you feel either way about the tie being substantially lighter or darker than the jacket? Is there a general rule, eg the tie should be the darker of the two pieces, or that one skew is more casual and the other more formal?

@DiplomaticTies those Carmina's seem to have seen a good deal of miles, based upon the view of the bottoms, but looks impeccable on top. a bit orange heavy for my taste, but a great look!

The orange socks are a little cutesy for my tastes, but I think the rest of the outfit is an awesome wink to anyone who likes clothes and is paying attention. Subtlety pairing three stripes together along with shades of orange; I would have never thought to dress down such serious suit in that way. Very cool look.
