I can't imagine the last time we had an intense heat wave in the UK. Just about a month ago, we had something close to that but that was immediately mellowed by spells of rain. Can't imagine how older generations will cope under such condition as 90°C. Oh dear, can't think of anything other than an invitation to early grave :embar:

I was wearing overcoat, gloves and scarf in Sydney today, over a flannel suit. Face it folks. Global cooling is real.

El Niño. Weather just is a bit more extreme this year around the Pacific. Snow in Tasmania, while over here it's even hotter and drier than usual with the rainy season not expected to start until mid December, whereas usually it starts around October.

@SYCSYC Noooo! Don't fall back, get rid of that suit and stock your closet with SS! [IMG]

@upr_crust I really like that. I might have gone with a white shirt but the one you chose doesn't take anything away IMO.

@Gerry Nelson Showing how it's done!

When I was a kid living in California people used to blame everything on El Niño. My car ran out of gas! Must have been El Niño. I burned the turkey! Must have been El Niño. I forgot to take my meds, ran out of the house naked, got hit by a car, and threw up all over the nurse when I got to the hospital. El Niño.

This can't be beat but hope the weather in MD is not as bad as we have it here. 105 yesterday with heat index over 110 and it's going to get worse

+1. We don't have the relentless high digit temps you have on the west coast. We have humidity. I love having a seasonal wardrobe and I have found myself for the first time in the last few days yearning for my flannel and cashmere.....

@kulata I see the heat is getting to a lot of us. Dog days and all. I find myself dressing down a lot.
