    Happy bday Mr C.!

Adding more navy suit + white shirt love to this page. And I feel like I really and truly should hate this tie, it's a stupid pattern and red on navy is heresy from a graphic design perspective, but I dig it. It's a flimsy lining on equally flimsy silk so the knot is never the best.

I dig the tie too. I have a white and red on Navy semi-similar to the above. Looks like a great, seasonally appropriate tie to me. Did I miss the SF memo that this style & color is non-approved?

I kind of get where you are going with that; the tie has a kind of "generic Marinella" vibe to it, the kind a president/executive could wear without batting an eyelash.

The SF Memo Department releases an average of 350 memos per day. Of those: 212 contradict previous memos, 56 are written in broken English or a mix of words, emojis, and coffee stains, 103 make unverifiable claims to the preferences of Manton, Foo, or Vox, and 0 of them have an executive signature attached. So don't worry if you missed this one, which was only written on a post-it note anyway.

I just think by objective standards the tie doesn't make any sense. But subjectively I find it cool. Kinda like a duck-billed platypus.

Funny, @GusW said it was an "Italian CEO" look.

    The Black Eyed Peas.

Besides, with your jacket/tie combo you seem to love it enough for the both of us.

Of course, it may take several drinks/beers to get there, as is the case for Scandinavians.

Well, GBR is a senior member and I think 83% of his posts are telling people to burn jackets immediately.

Thank you B - the pants are wool/silk 'denim' from one of the first runs of Panta (edmorel's company). The boots are RM Williams custom chukkas in snuff suede.

So what made you choose it? The shirt I mean. You've taken the most conservative of suits, grabbed all the right accessories (except for the cufflinks), and then decided to put on a casual shirt. Why a shirt like that was made with french cuffs I don't know, but to casualize the look even more with those cufflinks makes even less sense to me in terms of coherency. Maybe I'm thinking from too deep in the box (heh), but it seems to me that a charcoal suit is the box and that you can rarely pick anything but a solid white or blue shirt. I've seen one exception I really liked, which was @Cleav who wore a white shirt with a small dark grey check paired with a black grenadine. Beyond that, I know you've gotten this feedback before, and also that you have lots of pre-SF stuff, but moving forward I believe less-structured shoulders, softer spread collars with points that sit under your jacket, and wider lapels are all things to work toward. Please don't take any of that as anything but friendly feedback (from someone who has been guilty of every single one of the points I brought up). I think you're one of the most improved posters since you started, which wasn't all that long ago!

First time contributing to this thread, hi gents! Also, coincidentally my first time wearing a white tie. I don't have a decent picture taking setup at the moment, so the selfie'll have to do.

    Eidos suit/shirt
    Borrelli tie
old Dockers cotton pocket square that I cut the edges off and fringed myself

You can't tell in the above pic but the Eidos shirt is a really nice, lightweight, textured cotton. Better shot of the texture here:
