Casual Friday again - felt like using some color. There was a bit of discussion recently on using a jacket as the lightest element of an outfit... Does this apply? If so, does it work?

Thanks. I've learned that Brooks has had some weird sizing variances through the years.

Pre-90s Brooks is cut smaller. I have coats and suits sized 38-40 that fit me perfectly in the shoulders.

90s Brooks is cut roomy, wide, and long. My coats from that era have to be sized 36 S or R to fit right, otherwise the shoulders are a bit too big.

Recent Brooks is cut slimmer than 90s Brooks, though not as small as pre-90s Brooks, so a 38R is almost always the right choice (some exceptions).

lufty, jfc, please don't do that again.

spoo, I think your brown coat would look better with lighter pants, more of a mid gray,

TTO, while every piece is good in itself, I think the shirt and tie patterns don't work together.

Yesterday. There was a white pocket square, but it disappeared. Suit is a navy Chan.

I'm rarely if ever in a suit, but when I am, this is what it looks like.

Fair. I had a camel coat on originally before I realized it was 75 plus 75% humidity. Grabbed a coat on my way out the door. Shoulda gone navy blazer instead. Cest la vie.

IS there someone in the UK who can proxy for me? Meaning receive a package on my behalf and then forward it to me, to my address in Canada? I'll cover all costs by paypal to you beforehand, of course...plus a service fee for you if you chooose :)

    Thank you!

UC - To my jaded eye the more subtle your compositions are the more outstanding they appear.

    Superb stuff. :worship2:

Courting two SF issues! Navy odd trousers and a lighter sport coat.

I like, but then I still suck at this. Where'd you get the SC?

SC is from Land's End a couple of years ago. Pants are the first pair I ever made and IRL I would say they are a good couple of shades away from Navy and towards Royal.

Thanks, I need another pair of dress shoes. I typically buy AE because you can get them at good prices when seconds go on sale. I have park avenues, strands, and van ness. I have been looking at a "monks-strap" similar to these for a while, which of these three do you think is best suited for suits? I threw in the lombard because I like lace-ups...I will be purchasing the shoe in black. Lombard Boston Norwich

I like them too, but I see what he is saying. cufflinks/jeans just seems off to me too.

+1. Also cufflinks with casual leather jacket. (or lizardskin - appointed denim jacket as part of a Canadian tuxedo)!

The whole 'cufflinks witha sportcoat / blazer / open neck thing has been done before on here without a consensus IIRC, but mixing such disparate levels of formality as in Victor's pic just doesn't work for me.
