Pliny that's a gorgeous tie. Can I have it? You are the definition of perfect tie/PS balance today. Love it.

    :)

i agree with you as well btw, it might be very cool with the right shade/hue of brown, but i think navy will be easier to not screw up.

as always, love that jacket, pliny.

Cary Grant is dead, and probably wore nylon undercrackers. There are limits to reverence for our heroes of yesterday.

    Where is the tie from?

So I am in PAris for the week. Any recommendations on where to go, shop, eat?

For a museum to which almost no one goes, which is a shame, as it's a good museum - Musee du Petit Palais (Ave. Winston Churchill - between the Champs-Elysees and the Seine).

To shop - take a look at Septieme Largeur for shoes - 59 Rue St. Lazare (near the Trinite Metro stop on Ligne #12, I think).

To eat in total grandeur - have lunch (if you can) at Le Meurice at the Hotel Meurice. The set menu lunch is 120 euros, but the food is worth it - hell, the room is worth it - second in grandeur for dining venues only to Les Ambassadeurs at the Crillon, which is closed for a total rehab - the hotel as well as the restaurant.

    Let's go blue!
This won't qualify for the contest, but it is a tangent of the theme.
The tie is a dark navy. The PS is blue.

CD - like that. especially the top half. i think darker brown shoes might work better there, a different tie might be called for with the chestnut you are rocking. ymmv on that tho.

    CP - excellent.

    Cross Post from Friday Challenge.

This is going to go against every grain of SF but here we go:

I'm sure pink shirts are a no no but I'm having fun. Navy Carminas Greeleys to boot. The collar is too narrow and now that I see in a picture, I think my knot is too big, my apologies.

I know I am late to this discussion, but FWIW I think this is well done. I'm not sure how I feel about this tie, in fact I think I don't like it (herringbone + dots feel a bit much to me here); but if you are going to wear it this is how to do it. Jacket color choice aside, I think keeping everything simple makes this look sharp, despite how one may feel about the tie. One of my favorites from you ETB.

I stared at dark brown and these for about 5 minutes. Decided to break up the darker top with lighter bottom.

For $163 USD that lunch better come with smokin hot topless waitresses and maybe a happy ending.

been there more times than i can count, broham. ;)

i figured that was the intent, but with nothing else close to the shoe hue it stands out to me more than it blends/balances. maybe if it was the tie or a PS that was light and was in the middle of your body not at an extremity id see it more coherently. or if you did a PS or tie along with the shoes certainly that would blend everything.

but anyways, i get the idea. again, this may just be me as i see it. im weird.

Cheers, I'm pleased with the reaction so thanks for that. The jacket is part of a suit btw rather than a SC.

Nothing wrong with pink shirts in my book, in fact I was nearly wearing one today. I agree with you about the collars, they are way too narrow no matter what tie knot you do. A lot of that is personal choice, but if you see it yourself you probably know.

I like the boots but I'd never wear boots with a suit / formal wear so I can't really comment on them as part of the fit.

I went with the boots because they were navy and I was doing the Friday "navy" challenge, otherwise I wouldn't have worn them. [IMG]

Ah, I missed the Friday navy challenge thing. Isn't it Thursday though?
