Back in Shanghai. Musical Sunday for me. Two rehearsals in the afternoon for an upcoming chamber concert next Friday, then this evening I will try to catch the tail end of a benefit concert/fundraising dinner at M on the Bund. Hoping to meet Wang Jian, China's most famous cellist, who will be there.

Thanks! I've had these blue cords for a while now, but I didn't know what would go well with them. After the challenge attempt I suddenly got the idea to wear this with it.

Yep, H&M! I'm not opposed to buying pieces that I won't wear often there. Besides, once in a while something really nice pops up!

Thank you for critique, jacket is ventless so pulls when buttoned and arms raised. Fabrics too close?

They certainly look more different close up, but still look like two halves of different suits.

I think the jacket could work on its own with solid mid-gray flannels, but those trousers would be most at home with a matching jacket, or, barring that, with a navy blazer. Maybe a tan camel hair.

Thanks! My fiancée used to work at H&M so I have a few items from them. Like you said, every once in a while you can find something nice.

Awesome. Any clue what the leg opening on the trousers is?

It's where the feet poke out at the bottom.

    Ahhhhh a wise guy aye?

Allow me to rephrase, "What does the leg opening measure?"

    :D

Love it on the whole. I would go with a broader knot, probably half Windsor, but a Prince Albert could do the trick of you find Windsors objectionable.

I missed this the first time around, but this is great. A touch more dandified than some of what you post, but you do it very well. The shoes are lovely -- the one time I think I successfully wore shoes lighter than a dark suit, I also wore a yellow tie. It kind of tied together the contrasts for me.
