It is clever indeed.

Personally, I like the symmetry of the half windsor, and wear it almost exclusively. But I'm here to learn: why do you all say that four in hand would have improved the fit? Proportion?

Try it out and see if you like it. If you don't, ignore the windsor hate that pervades this forum and do your thing.

The collar of your coat should sit-up higher on your neck and hug the collar of your shirt. Your coat collars appear to rest further down on your shoulders. For comparison, I just found some random older picture of Spoo. See how his coat collar hugs his neck.
