Today's ensemble was suggested to me by a poster on this site. As it is a fairly simple ensemble, and attractive enough, it was easy to comply with the suggestion.

Suit - Paul Stuart
Shirt - BB
Tie - Lewin
Braces - Paul Stuart
Cufflinks - Metropolitan Museum
Shoes - BB Shell Cordovan
Hat - Scala

Imo, Spoo's original is best. That said, I wore this last week. The pants are dark gray and the shoes are dark burgundy, but they both look nearly black:

I didn't wear a PS, because I have a new accessory on my left hand, and a man can only wear a certain... Actually, I couldn't think of a PS that would work.
Edit: More pics here.

Thanks emptym. I have a very similar coat that I wear almost exactly as you have here. I also have a purple and black grossa grenadine Hober on order and this confirms that it will look good with the coat.

Can someone please photoshop black pants and shoes on my fit to show him what a tragedy it would be?

shouldnt have to. obvious son. can we also agree that you shouldnt wear a size 56L if youre 5/6 and weigh 120 lbs? not much debate here.

Really excellent Upr...

For me this is so refreshing visually in it's "apparent" simplicity although i notice there is a lot of class in the detail, for instance the fleur-de-lys which draws the eye.

Oh the pain of the newbie status and post moderation, woe is me.
I'll get over it, I'm sure.
Spoo in black:

Yes this looks pretty cool to me, and the dark brown shoes look ok too actually. In fact i think that what i was trying to say (and may even get it wrong this time around :D ) was that the pale grey trousers were looking a bit insipid, and any one of the colours represented in the stripes of the jacket would be a good choice for the colour of the trousers.

Doesn't make sense to me. Do you really think that one should wear black shoes with cream gabardine trousers, or white linen, or light gray flannels - all of them are monochromatic colors. When would brown shoes be correct, then?

James, I would not choose the shoes to go with the trouser colour only, I would choose them to create an overall effect within an outfit. So with the trouser colours you mention, one could wear, white, brown, black, or maroon shoes depending on the overall colour tone of the outfit.

well, there's no right or wrong. imo, the trousers and the shoes are a touch too light in their shade.

actually, i would choose a charcoal trouser and black or dark brown brogues for myself.
