What if you live in an environment where tweed is impermissible? Like Texas?

First they banned Mexicans and now tweed? When will it end?

Never liked Isaia tie construction, feels like cardboard.
Ties are also ugly only after Etro

Good point. This would then pass for an autumn tie in Texas? I suppose, though I've only ever driven through the state.

I'm fine with that tie, Clags.

On that note, is linen permissible all year round in Florida?

"Impermissible" is strong. One thing I've learned about many of the "rules" of SF. They are best thought of as advice.

Mostly, I know Claghorn has some flannels and tweeds, and I wasn't moved by the Isaia as an autumn tie with the SCs and suits that he has. My two cents.

If you live in an environment that is warm to unbearably hot, year round, then wool ties might feel oppressive even in winter. So, draw on colors and textures as appropriate to the feel of the season, if not the actual season.

    To be sure.

Actual climate and temperature trump nominal season.

I’m guessing that people in Nassau don’t wear great coats just because it’s Christmas.

    Cheers,

I used the term "impermissible" somewhat jokingly (no sense of humor!). Ill advised might be more accurate. Not for reasons of rules but for mere practicality.

Are tailors over there more 'trendy', or old fashioned?

I'll check with the old folks condo committee. They are a fickle bunch.

I seriously thought it was an angry bird. Still not 100% convinced otherwise.

Hahaha, thanks! I guess it was a silly question. If it's hot, which it almost always is, linen will be approrpriate.

Haha, no problem. To answer your question, though, I think Florida winters can be something like 60s and 70s during the day and 50s and as low as 40s at night.

I'd say linen could be worn all year round if that's the case. Fresco and any other open weave material would obviously be the way to go since you also have humidity to go along with the heat.

Ah, sorry. My above 12 proposals apply mutatis mutandis to the grad lounge.
