    Thanks for answering my post!

Yes, love the look of these, especially the briefs / boxers...

Question, in terms of the fabric - is it non irritating to someone with skin conditions or sensitive skin?? Just curious. Again love the look of this stuff.

    Thanks

Hello chrisjc77, thank you for your questions.

We developed our fabric in-house with a combination of high-twist cotton, polyester, and Lycra. The high-twist cotton gives a dry feel on skin and and the fabric is fast-dry. It has also been treated with antimicrobial protection against odour-causing bacteria.

Not sure what skin-conditions you're referring to. While we do not make false or untested claims, it is fair to say that our undergarments are very comfortable to wear simply because we have replaced traditional stitching with Bemis® Bonding technology. The garment is completely bonded, created without a single sewn stitch. By eliminating layers of stitching, it results in low profile, non abrasive bonded seams/hems. The garment, therefore, is much lighter and is very comfortable to wear.

We have family members, friends and clients who have very sensitive skin and they used to turn their underwear inside-out to wear because of the constant friction of the sewn seams irritating their skin. That's one of the reasons we created our fully bonded undergarment, and even the logo/care label is bonded.

Some even commented that our undergarments are reversible... so picture this...

I'm happy to share my experience with GIIN undershirts.

I originally purchased some clothing from Frank, the owner of GIIN and got to know him a little. Over a year ago, Frank told me about the undershirts he was developing so I was happy to purchase a few and provide feedback to assist in developing the product.

Frank asked if I could share the feedback I've already given him personally, with the SF community.

    What I like:

    • Deep v-neck allows you to unbutton top two buttons on your shirt without showing any undershirt.
    • Great moisture wicking ability. I find if I sweat, even a fair bit, the undershirt dries so quickly it's never been an issue.
    • Super comfortable after the first 2-3 wears. The first time I wear a new one, it's a little uncomfortable, you can feel it on you. However, after some use, it fits to your body, and you truly don't notice you're wearing it anymore.
    • They are nice and long and easily tuck into your pants, so I don't find the undershirt 'riding up' and having to adjust it during the day.

The only negative I've had is that after maybe 30 wears and a little more than that on another one, the bonded ends started to come undone around the collar and waist. I simply trimmed it off with scissors and have found zero impact on the comfort or function. I expect the shirts will wear more frequently with the protection from the bonds though. There's still quite a bit of life in them, and I think I'll get my money's worth by the time I have to toss them.

All I can say in summary, is that I won't be buying any other kind of undershirts in the future. It's GIIN or nothing.

    Hello Chambertin,

Thank you very much for your detailed, and candid review.

We have some clients who share the same experience: The first time they wear the undershirt, it feels a bit different mainly because they are not used to wearing fitted undershirts. After a day or two, they don't even feel it on them anymore. I think this is the best compliment one can get when it comes to undergarments. Thank you.

We have nothing to add to all the wonderful features you have mentioned. We are just really glad you like our undershirt.

However, we would like to address the only issue, the bonded ends started to come undone after repeated washes and drying in the dryer (in this case, 30 times +). We have become aware of it and it seems that the bonded reinforcement on the collar front and the waist, in some cases, have this issue. We have not encountered any issues with the side seams or the sleeve seams.

Bonding in textile is fairly new, and we are the first to make men's undergarment entirely using this technology. Rest assured that the issue is noted and our promise is that we always strive for continuous improvement. We will make it better.

One last note: We recommend washing in cold and hang-drying the garment. As you mentioned, our fast-dry fabric dries quickly. This makes hang-drying a breeze and will definitely prolong the life of the garment.

    Cheers,
    The GIIN Team
    Frank and Jen

Jen very kindly sent me an undershirt to try and I have to say, while it's different to what I'm used to (undershirts tend to be more like tanktops here in Australia), it's extremely soft and comfortable and essentially disappears under your clothing. I've worn it a few weeks now, off and on, and it's come through the wash perfectly. I can highly recommend this product and the superb dealings with Jen and her team. Well done to all involved :)

I was fortunate to receive one of their undershirts in the first giveaway contest. I wore it frequently over a period of about 6 weeks. Then I contacted them and ordered a bunch more, as all my existing undershirts suddenly seemed like total crapola.

Here's what I like about them:

    1) Great fit. Form-fitting, but short of compression wear.
    2) Soft, lightweight and seamless. I forget I have one on.
    3) Super comfortable - see above.
    4) While I wasn't initially in love with the putty-beige colour, I can tell you that it absolutely disappears under dress shirts of all shades. You just don't see any outline. Good stuff.
    5) The deep U-neck means they are equally wearable with open-collar shirts as they are with a shirt and tie.
    6) Length - these things stay tucked during the course of a working day - no riding up and bunching around the waist.

    If there's a downside, I haven't found it.
