Officially joined the burnham club today courtesy a fellow SF'er. I pretty much want to buy 10 more already.

Anyone got any views on the EG Dover versus GG Islam - thoughts, history, preferences?

Dover vs Hove is a better comparison, which historically the Dover has won on this forum.

Isham is enough of its own model that it stands on its own. You can own both a Dover and Isham easily I think.

I had the Hove first and was a late concert to the Dover. To me, the Dover is wonderful. Sort of an everyday workshorse kind of shoe. The Hove - like all GG to me - is something different. A bit special compared to Dover. This is a Hatfield vs MCCoys kind of discussion though.

I'm contemplating a burnham. This will be a wet weather shoe, will be definitely getting wensum sole. Will probably get the MH71 last. I'm deciding between vintage rioja or rioja hatch grain (found some images online). I don't have anything in vintage rioja thus far. Appreciate any comments. Thanks!

I have the Dover in navy hatch grain and am waiting for the Isham in cherry kudu. They both look more casual. Like @JubeiSpiegel said, I think you can have both.

I'd suggest hatch grain Rain and water will likely cause water welts/bumps to form. Hate when smooth calfskin gets bumpy and uneven.

Your picture of reference is mine, haha. Here's some additional looks to demonstrate their versatility.

I popped into the Savile Row shop for a repair last work and I saw a range of loafers in this grain suede. Unfortunately I think "grain suede" is the best description I can give of it: think of grain calf and then make it suede. I was impressed with the material (especially in green) and, as usual, the workmanship in the shoes. My only reservation was around the undressed sole edges, which made me think of "fashion forward" offerings from the likes of Grenson.

Thought I'd share this: vintage cherry st James II and vintage oak gable, both in MH71. Probably my two best shoe purchases from skoaktiebolaget.
