I do not think that is part of the collaboration, and thus, not for sale at Gap.

I could very well be wrong on this matter.

Correct. The only Ovadia & Sons x Gap jacket is a gray nylon moto jacket. Frankly, I wouldn't spend my money on it or any other piece from the GQ x Gap collaboration. They're all ugly and cheap.

A bit off the topic, but I just looked this collection up on Gap's website and noticed that the collection is only being featured at select stores, most of which are in New York or California. If the goal is to bring these designers to the masses, why limit the locations where the collection is carried? Most of the stuff doesn't look that much more expensive than regular Gap product. As someone who doesn't live in one of the select cities, it seems like it would make sense to feature the collection at all Gap stores. I mean, are people living in Manhattan really rushing out to the Gap with all the other brands at their disposal? Seems like folks in Ohio would be more receptive to a watered down version of this stuff than people who actually have access to the real deal.

Edit: Just browsed through the entire collection and saw maybe one thing I'd buy.

    A. It's available to everyone on the internet
    B. It's a limited run, so they don't have enough to stock every store
    C. Not everyone in the big cities can afford the real thing

But yeah, it's all cheap crap. The "wool" trousers are either 40 or 50% wool.

    A. You're right; it is available to everyone via the internet. But if I can go in and see this stuff in person, it's competing (in my mind at least) against other brands I can see in person (J. Crew, BR, etc.). Being available only on the internet, now it's competing against the whole universe of internet goods, and all SFers know you can find much better stuff at better prices than this online. As far as the unwashed, non-SF masses, do they really shop online at a store as ubiquitous as the Gap?

    B. Fair point, but why make it limited run stuff? The vast majority is pretty basic. For instance, a limited edition grey sweatshirt by Todd Snyder. I would think they could displace some of their regular stuff for this collection.

    C. But everyone in the big cities who can only afford this stuff still has access to better stuff than this at these price points.

Anyway, it is all moot because I haven't stepped foot in a Gap for years and probably wouldn't break that streak for this collection. Just thought the limited release was a curious move.

Fact. A lot of the times the collaborations involve cheaper materials to keep costs down.

I wonder how the Neiman Marcus + Target collaboration will fair.

Add to that the fact that a large percentage of the people who would know who the Ovadias are live in NY and California.

I pulled the strings on the Ovadia Cardigan and the moto jacket. Cardigan needed to size up 2 sizes, and the moto jackets buttons pulled out from the fabric, while also zipped so there was not much stress, within literally 15 minutes of putting it on and walking casually.

I get your gripe, but the reality is the stuff has to sell, and most midwestern (read: anything not in the North East or on the West Coast) just don't buy this stuff. I heard GAP is doing a collab with Walmart in those places...:)

The dismissal flyover country is so tired and outdated. The internet has done a lot to democratize fashion, and there are actually *gasp* real cities in flyover country where a fair number people try to dress well. The East and West coasts of which you speak basically amounts 8 cites. I guarantee there's more interest in this collection in say Richmond, Charlotte, Austin, Madison and Minneapolis than Buffalo, Stockton and Springfield.
