They already had a last, but I asked for several changes, so Tony had to modify it somewhat. I have to give him credit; he made every change I asked for, exactly as I wanted them. I had a fitting in London in late January.

All the shoes G+G brought to CSE were breathtaking but there was something particular about the suede that seemed out of this world. Congratulations.

Nice Manton. Awesome specimen of a beveled waist.

I'd be too afraid to wear them out, especially in the city. I'd probably put them up on my shelf or something since I don't have any art in my place.

Fantastic suede, and the seamless heel is impressive.

Does anybody have a breakdown of the pricing for RTW, MTO, bespoke? Also, is it likely that during the travelling trunk show he'll have samples of different sizes so that I can determine my size and purchase at a later date, or will a purchase be expected on the same day?

edit: Also, is that the same waist treatment used on RTW and MTO?

From memory, MTO is 445 pounds, bespoke 1,550. Trees are extra: 75 pounds MTO, more for bespoke (I can't recall the exact number). The MTO waist is excellent for a factory made shoe -- probably the best available -- but it does not compare the bespoke waist. They can't do this tight a bevel, or this fiddle back, MTO.

Yes, a mid to light gray. I have a nice cambridge gray all made up, as well as a piece of dove gray sitting in my office. Some day ...

I think it's better. Tighter, closer to the upper, the stiches more hidden, the underside more fiddled. Others more familiar with Lobb should weigh in.

OMG, look at the waist, look at the unbelievable waist, so suppressed, so waspy. You must cross your legs everytime you sit down so we can worship your waist.

Congrat on your fine piece of art, and on making your Appreciation debut. AFAIK, this is your Appreciation debut, right?

I love have the sole looks -- I actually requested EG do something similar when I sent my lowly off the shelf EG's to them for resoling.

By the way, Manton. I've always wondered how far from the front of the shoe one's toe ends up being in a bespoke shoe.
