It's a solid. Not allowed. Wouldn't have been counted a pattern for the 4-pattern challenge, so it's a solid for purposes of this one too.

ahhhhhhhhh, no solids allowed here no matter the boldness of color and texture?

Is this tie bold enough for the challenge? Sadly (or luckily!), this is the boldest tie I have.

I'm confused by the parameters - SF seems to hold that bold patterns are by definition in poor taste. Looking forward to the entries though. I feel like if I see one more freakin' burgundy grenadine here, my head will explode. :)

My understanding is this: the aim is to go as bold as possible, while remaining within the realms of good taste, and one should judge others according to how far they have been able to go while still remaining CM-stylish.

Therefore, that pleasant red tie with its barely-contrasting pattern, might be bold, but is easily tasteful. So scoring well on the second point, but perhaps not so well on the first i.e. it was easy to wear tastefully. I suspect my tie might score the other way around!

Fair enough Mimo. I have no shortage of bold ties - though I suspect most push through the SF / CM boundaries of tastefulness. I'll play anyway.

Amen to that. As soon as I saw the challenge, I knew what tie it would be. Since then, I've been trying to work out how to wear it...

Surely your beard makes up for what you might be lacking in the bold tie department? I don't have any bold ties, let a alone a magnificent beard [IMG]

Stitchy my friend, I think we both know that there will be a dozen tasteful little paisleys and prints with insincere "oh I hope this isn't too wild?" comments accompanying, by the end of the tomorrow. It's up to the fearless to try to accommodate something truly loud.

I believe you are one of those men, Stitchy. Release that beast, and tame it! It's better to die trying.

Orge, are you using TTO's rules for when the fit is worn? By his standard, o/o is eligible, and we want the standard which allows o/o to be eligible, don't we?

I have a bright purple with large polka dots that might qualify for this. Now if I have the guts to wear it ever again...

that would be weak sauce if that happens. i kind of want to wear my wedding tie. its a shiny yellow/silver/purple check. but ffs its hard to pass of as tasteful. i have another bold tie that i think would be best for accomplishing, or trying to accomplish, both of the stated goals here.

+1. and i dont see how o/o's tir could be considered solid.

I was planning to wear my wedding tie, but instead I'll be in oral surgery tomorrow. I look forward (I think...) to seeing the entries.
