Nice fish, HC. Looks lean after a hard winter.

He was actually pretty thick for post spawn condition, was fishing by myself so didn't get a chance to take any other photos from the top though. But in this stream, which is a tailwater behind a dam over 100% all winter has been running flat out the last 4 months and essentially un-fishable. It's only just come down to a reasonable level so it's probably expended a lot of energy in those flows.

We are going out to California when school gets out and have set up a couple of days fishing while we're in Yosemite. It will be mid-June but I am worried about this winter's big snowfall...:uhoh:

That will probably depend upon rain just before your trip. Where? Merced? Tuolumne?

It's an hour from Yosemite to Mammoth Lakes.

I think it's more like 2.5 hours from the Valley to Mammoth Lakes.

We're going to be on the east side of the park - I would assume Merced or Tuolumne but have left it loose depending what is most fishable. 25 yrs ago (yikes!) we fished the upper Owens outside of Mammoth...

***i meant westside of the park! :embar:

Depends on which part of the park you're in. Tuolumne to ML is about an hour.

My bad. Most people say Yosemite to mean The Valley.

I got out in Boulder Canyon about a miles west of town to toss flies at fish. Nothing was biting, but I did actually see some fish this time. Beautiful spot!

Peaceful evening on the creek, about one mile from home.

Hit up a little lake in north Denmark while on vacation. My casting is still terrible but I managed to get a native rainbow about 2, 2.5 pounds. Potentially have a trip lined up in a few weeks that will be more productive.
