Wow, received shipment. Fantastic belt and I really like the attention to detail with the stitching. And that glorious leather-y smell.. :) Caught my wife taking a sniff when she thought I wasn't looking.

    Charlie,

I love the watch strap but the only problem I have with it is that it shrunk a lot. It shrunk more than 1mm (width, look at leather next to the lug). Is there a way to preshrink it?

    Thanks,

    Hi WQ,

I'm surprised about this, Ive been wearing one since we came up with the design and nothing has made them shrink and I'm not overly kind to them. The only easy way of shrinking leather is lots of heat - I know your a hotter place than we are but even so I'm not convinced the climate is a likely culprit. In all honesty I'm more inclined to think we made the strap a little narrow initially - has it not always been a touch narrow? Anyway, drop me a PM and we can chat through the strap and its life and see what we can do to help.

    Hi Nick,

No problem at all, drop me an email or pm with the width (I can look it up for you if needs be) and the finish you want, we'll send you a PayPal invoice (the website doesnt know about buckles) and assuming we have the buckle to hand they can be in the post the following day

    Many thanks,

    Charlie

Its difficult for us to know exactly what people are using the belts for, but we do sell a lot of dark coloured belts with West End buckles that I'm sure are being used for formal wear. Colours like Dark Havanna, Black and then maybe the two Australian Nuts etc are all good conservative colours and are worth a thought depending on your suit colour, sense of style and shoe colour - some people I'm sure are using the brighter colours which is fine if it works for you. The buckle even more is personal taste - if you want a buckle thats elegant, nicely proportioned that compliments the belt but isnt in your face the West End is a really easy choice and we sell more of them than anything else I think. Regarding width, 1 1/4" is the most common choice but 1 1/8" is a good formal choice if the buckle you want is available on that width - not all of them are though.

A few photos just for e.g....

Stainless West End on Aus Nut in 1 1/4"

Nickel West End on Green in 1 1/4"

    Hope this helps,

Thanks Charlie; I appreciate the response.

I am hoping belt owners would chime in.

Not at all, glad to help. Hopefully you'll get some third party opinions as well.

I ordered just as Charlie suggested, West End 1.25", for business casual wear (trousers and dress shirt). Don't need to wear suit to work. Counting down the days now.

I ordered 1 1/8th in black and maybe Australian nut? They should be here tomorrow and they were purchased to wear with suits. I'll let you know how they look upon arrival on a suit.

Answering as a wearer rather than maker briefely the 1 1/8" Black with Nickel West End is exactly what I wear for very formal wear - very traditional and correct by any definition of formal..

We work to a waiting list of a calendar month or so - everything we make is made to measure and to order. If people want belts for a specific date/holiday/wedding etc we always try to help if possible though.

I received two belts today that are 1 1/4, they look very nice and professional with a suit. The handwritten note in the box was a nIce addition.

Charlie was able to suggest a 36.5 based on my needs, and they fit perfectly. I'll defintely be ordering more to supplement my current belts.

Overall, couldn't be more impressed with the fantastic service, quality of the belt, and the look of it when paired with a suit. Now just need to decide which one I'll be wearing tomorrow.

If I could afford it that probably would have been the way I went.
