Are these boots pebble grain or scotch grain?

Hi Mike - What are your thoughts on antique brown vs medium brown for the double monk soles?

Same here...I just wanted to be sure.

Since this is a late fall/winter boot...what are your thoughts on a late October - early November delivery date? I'm assuming 8-10 weeks for the shoe means we would have to have final orders completed by late August?

I believe that we'll stick with the Forest last so that customers can order it in wides as well. About 1/3 of the Shell Bal Boot customers needed a wide fitting, so I'd prefer to use that and allow them to get onto these MTO projects as well.

I believe that scotch grain and pebble grain can be used interchangeably. The exact structure of the leather is going to vary by manufacturer to manufacturer.

Carmina just has one type of scotch grain though. I have the leather swatches and I'll post a close up photo when the item goes live so that you can see it up close. I'm just waiting on pricing before I activate the item, it's otherwise ready to go.

Carmina actually just has three brown finishes:

Dark Brown - I've never used this. Not really much point IMO when you've got....
Medium Brown - this is used on pretty much every Carmina shoe that we've released so far. It's what was used on the Austerity Brogue too. It's a beautiful color, and similar to Alden's antique brown, but a tiny bit darker.
Natural (Cuero) - this is the lightest edge. It's not a huge contrast like you might see from Trickers or McNairy/Sanders, but will be similar to the edge trim of our Alden Natural CXL Brixton Boot: , but a bit lighter than that.

We'll need to organize things a bit sooner than that. For a mid-October delivery, we'd need to have everything wrapped up around the end of June. I'm just waiting on pricing for the makeups and I'm going to build them out on the site immediately after that. I'll do all of them at the same time so that you guys can see the whole range at once. I'm then going to Mallorca on the first week of July, so I can review our orders with them in person among other things.

    Carmina Handsewn Preview Pics

This coming July, we're going to introduce two exclusive handsewn loafers with Carmina. The retail is going to be around $335, and their quality is absolutely phenomenal. Here's some preview pics below. Our shoes will be done in different materials and with a thicker sole, but this is the basic shape.

Beefroll Penny Loafer - ours will be in Caramel calfskin.

Rolled English Moc Loafer - ours will be in Snuff suede. Using this kind of moc on suede is nice, as you won't see the rough interior of the suede around the edge of the moc toe. This design covers it and gives you a cleaner overall look.

I can't wait for these. I know that a lot of guys were disappointed when we discontinued the Sewn by Hand loafers, but hopefully this will make up for it. These will be the finest quality mocs for the price that I've seen anywhere. The fit on them is excellent too.

Also, how does the Forest last fit compared to the Rain last?

I find them very close in width with the Rain just a smidge wider. Comfort-wise, they feel the same to me.

Carmina's website describes these Jodhpurs as having a "half rubber sole." What does that mean? Is it just the heel that's rubber, or does the whole sole look like that of these boots?:

Thanks, but damn, I've always disliked how those soles look.

Haha, I'll see how much I can fit into our bag. Just booked our hotel yesterday, we're staying an a renovated fort on the seaside. I've never been to Mallorca before, so I'm really looking forward to it! Plus it's a opportunidad muy bueno para practicar mi espanol.

I wholly agree with Gerry - most of our customers find the Forest and the Rain to be fairly consistent. Forest is a touch higher, Rain is a touch wider. Nearly everyone would take the same size in both lasts, and they both have a really excellent fit.

Navy Shell MTO Items are Online

    Hey guys,

Here's the first two of five MTO projects that we're going to offer for mid-Fall 2012. As discussed, may I present the Navy Shell Cordovan Austerity Brouge and the Double Monk. Both of these are on the Rain last. The price is set at $850, and that will include a pair of awesome Carmina Shoe Trees. We should take delivery of these between the end of September and the end of October. They're going to be gorgeous shoes and perfect for the Fall.

The online items are for the 50% non-refundable deposit. Please note that these will be made to order and are final sale. As they are on the Rain last, we regretfully cannot offer them in wides. But if you take a medium and need a size that's smaller or larger than what's listed, then drop me a PM and I'll check to see if it can be made. The links to order are below. And the deadline will be Monday, July 9th.

We've got three other shoes in the pipeline. I'm just waiting for the final cost pricing from Carmina. I should get it Monday-Tuesday, as they were at Pitti all last week. They are:

    1. Forest Last Bal Boot in Chocolate Suede/Chocolate Calf
    2. Forest Last Bal Boot in all Black Scotchgrain with Dainite Sole
    3. Rain Last Austerity Brogue in Cognac Python

In addition, we're working on a few concepts for our Shortwing boot - the Sinclair. I'll hope to nail those down this week. And I'll work to bring back a TON of photos from the Carmina factory that can provide some inspiration for future projects!

I know you've got a lot of projects in the pipeline Mike (looking forward the arrivals :nodding:), but I was wondering if you'd be having any more formal offerings this year. A black bal cap-toe/shortwing in calf maybe similar to the Ellison?
