    Hey guys,

Many apologies for not being more on top of this. We've been working hard to get a handle on just what styles we have in work and finished up.

The good news is that a shipment just cleared customs! We should have them in the Manhattan store in the next day or two and will work to let you guys know what is in there. It looks like there's a ton of stuff coming in!

What irks people is your attempt to disguise an absolute statement as a personal opinion, insisting that style is subjective whilst written in the same paragraph is an absolute statement regarding style.

"I'm entitled to my OPINION as much as you are yours... Style is subjective ... but these are outlandish shoes... some works of art just can't be shoehorned into a residence... What is Style Forum for if not to discuss matters of TASTE..."

I really don't think attributing someone's personal taste to being unfit for absolutely any kind of occasion and being a shoe only for 'pimps' is "discussing" matters of taste, but rather putting his/her taste down as inferior.

Oh, and just because I think I can't pull a look off does not mean no one else can.

I hope you understand my point so we can all move on.

I understand your point but don't agree with it. It should be implied that if I say a pair of shoes is outlandish, that is my opinion, not fact. I stand by my opinion and stand by my right to have an opinion in a public forum about such matters. Honestly, I'm not sure what the big deal is. Is everyone on this board above being critiqued? If I put a pair of Alden PTBs up and someone said they look like security guard shoes, I'd take it in stride. I see so much pent up tension across some of these of threads. It's like, lighten up people. I come here to learn and have some fun, not get into pissing matches.

Anyone interested in getting some loafers made up for summer? I was thinking something in brown Cordovan, if Carmina still has any.

I'd like a boat shoe-ish loafer with done in grey/bluish suede with a crepe or rubber sole. I don't a tassle or penny one though.

I would be down for the same type of loafer they have on the website, just without the moccasin-type contrast stitching so it looks more formal.

It got me really excited for this is such a beauty that I have not come across for a long time. Am wondering if Epaulet has stock for this or through MTO only? Anyone wanna revive this MTO or selling?

After 2 wears, a lace on my hatch grain jumper already ripped. They came with an extra pair, but where can I get another pair just in case?

Also interested in this. Those speed hooks are murder on the laces. Would like to stock up.

^ I know from experience that it is hard, if not impossible, to get replacement laces from Carmina/Epaulet. I switched out the Carmina laces for Alden's flat waxed laces and was happy -- they do not tear nearly as quickly (though they will eventually wear down). Agree that the laces are not well suited to those super-sharp speed hooks.

You could try using a small, fine file to knock the sharp edges off the inside of the speed hooks. Even if they're plated/painted that edge would be invisible with laces installed.

I have complained many times about Carmina's weak laces and sharp speed hooks. I love everything about the footwear except for the fact that I have to swap out laces every month or two.

Sadly, I know that it's not an either/or issue with the laces and speed hooks as I've had breakage problems with shoes as well. That said, there is a synergistic effect on boots with speed hooks that make things even worse.

For what it's worth, I've asked Mike (Epaulet) and Steve (GF) to both put pressure on Carmina to make improvements in this area.

Lastly, I agree with the others, Alden boot laces are excellent in both looks and durability.

Interesting. Would any of you mind posting a pic or two of a Carmina high jumper boot with Alden flat waxed laces?

Any suggestions for where to get the Alden flat waxed bootlaces - preferably somewhere that will ship outside the US without charging a fortune??
