Really? I thought it was pretty uneventful too [IMG]

gdl, you said it earlier, but Ari and Lloyd are the only redeeming parts of the show... really they should dump every other character and turn it into the Ari show and just have him interacting w/ other clients, his wifey, etc. The Drama stroyline is so bad its a joke.

And then watching Mad Men right after it on DVR as a comparison... its really pathetic.

Gotta be honest, I was a hater during S2 and S3, but I'm turning on to this one. I'm appreciating the fact that some of the conventions of the series (the accepted, yet unproven idea that Vince is a good actor, for one) are starting to get reversed, and the characters are going to have to work a bit because of their own mistakes. I'm sick of everyone else except the main characters being blamed for everything, so to me, this is nice.

Also, the music is better than usual. An old Liars track on the first episode, and one of Phoenix's best songs fit pretty well at the end of this one, working particularly well in that moment because of the band's French origin.

This episode was much much better than the first one.

Everything just magically works out for them.

The show is about a movie star, not a steel worker. Were you dropped on your head as a child?

Oh you're right. I'm sorry, movie stars never have any problems. In any case... it's boring to watch.

I thought the season premiere 2 weeks ago was horrible and probably one of the worst episodes ever. Last week's episode was much better. I've been watching since season 2 (watched season 1 on dvd).

Ari makes the show. No one plays an asshole and a jerk off like Piven.

Johnny Drama is probably a distant second in terms of characters. Turtle and Lloyd are pretty funny.

However, Eric and Vince are replaceable.

^I agree,Ari is the best character in the show and Drama is also very funny. The show has gone down hill since it started.Things are just so outrageous now, like last season when they were at the airport"hey kanye, can we get a ride on your plane to france?".I still like it though.

I don't get comments like this. Are you implying that wealthy people don't fly on private jets? Or that movie stars and musicians never interact? Explain to me how it's "outrageous" that a movie star and a musician shared a private jet. For everyone claiming that it's so boring and terrible, you sure know a lot about the show.

Wealthy people (but w/o access to a private jet) very often share with those with Jets. I think IHT or Nytimes ran a story on this a few weeks back.

Anyway all these folks complaining about Entourage: what do you really want out of it? It's not meant to be an enlightening experience. For that watch The Wire. Entourage is a purely fun, escapist show. It's fun to watch because you can watch Jeremy Piven and Drama be insane characters. It's fun because you get to see beautiful women half or fully undressed. It's fun to see the background dealings that happen in hollywood. You try to look at the show a bit more deeply than that or expect much in terms of character development and story archs you are deluding yourself.

I think people complaining probably are in the consensus that the show isn't as good as it was in the past. Personally, I thought Season 1-3 were pretty good and there were some classic episodes. I think the producers of the show have built enough goodwill to maintain viewership, but I personally think (based on the last 5-6 episodes) the show isn't as well written and witty.

I thought the one redeeming moment of episode 2 was when Vince decided he wanted to play the game, and Ari declined to say whether he thought he was a good actor. It might actually make this season interesting. It will never be as good as it was in season one when the whole schtick was fresh, though.

Name one show you watch religiously that didn't have its best episodes in the first 3 seasons? Nearly every single show I love (The Simpsons, The Sopranos, Married with Children, Entourage etc...) were all the best in their earlier years. I fail to see how Entourage should be singled out for this quality and called a "bad show" because of that. Every show is always the best during its good ole days.

Dude, what's the problem, are you in love with Adrian Grenier or something? Some of us think, correctly, that the show is stupid. You don't need to cry about it.

Is that your best Ari impersonation? Lacks a few sexual references IMO [IMG]

Unfortunately, I don't watch sitcoms religiously- though I enjoyed watching Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. [IMG]

Entourage is going through process just like any show. Having been around for 5 years is a worthy accomplishment. But, people will lose interest if the writing doesn't get better and plots are not interesting. Not everyone likes the show.

Some people may disagree. I think Entourage isn't as good as it was in the past. Because of that, I don't religiously watch the show. The same jokes and schtick have become recycled. There is a reason why Married w/ Children, Family Ties, Growning Pains, Mr. Belvedere [insert favorite comedy here], etc. got canceled or went off the air. Some of the shows got canceled as people lost interest with uneventful story lines or actors wanted to move on or the writing got bad. Whatever the case is, it's going to happen with Entourage as well.

Both Seignfeld and The Sopranos later seasons were they're best. Entourage is weak.

The more established in Hollywood the characters in Entourage become, the less interesting the show. Part of the fun of the earlier season was seeing the guys bumble their way through their (Vince's) new found celebrity.

I do like what they are doing with Vince's character though; things seemed a bit too easier for him in earlier seasons.
