The last time this was discussed was over three years ago, and the resounding opinion was that the look doesn't work. Have times changed? [IMG]

The concensus seems rather obvious. But at the risk of derailing the thread... how about shorts with a sport jacket? [IMG] (Image from The Sartorialist)

I have a seer sucker blazer that I wear when I go out to go swimming. I don't think I would wear a wool or cotton blazer with shorts though.

I just don't understand why the hell you would ever do it. If it's hot enough to wear shorts, ditch the jacket. If you need a little extra warmth, you probably should be wearing pants in that weather. And if you're in an enviroment where you need to wear a jacket for propriety, why the fuck are you wearing shorts?

It just fails on so many levels.

The jacket in the original picture looks all wrong with shorts, and the second guy just looks wrong, but I think it can work.

The jacket has to be a summery blue blazer, or seersucker or something along those lines. The shorts slim and as formal as shorts can be, and the occasion has to be right i.e. a fairly smart garden party somewhere quite hot. I could see it working in this case.

    Spot on once again skipper.

I actually think that away from the beach and the pool very few people look good in shorts and that includes slim/fit/athletic men. If you want to show off your iGent chops then break out the linen strides, that way if you must wear a blazer you won't look like you just graduated from primary school.

It's looks stupid but it's no worse than some of the other "looks" I've seen on here.
