I cant notice a difference in appearance between the celastic and the steel toe, so I doubt there is any difference with the single and double celastic.

How's the non celastic holding up (if they're yours?) Shivman? Interested to see if the toe flattens much. Cheers.

Those aren't mine, but I do own 2 non-celastic toe pairs and the toe hasn't flattened or caved in at all. It's just a different look.

Could you give me/us the heel and sole spec on the black steel toe boot in the photo?
That is about the most perfect work boot ever made!

    Thanks

The non-celastic pair above is mine, they're holding up just fine:

I don't have the full spec's on those, but if I were to make a guess they would be standard height cuban/tapered heel, and a vibram 700, natural edge.

Those look good, Urb. What do you think of the 430 soles? I like the appearance of the soles, but I ordered the 700 soles on my SDs at the recommendation of others. The standard lift block heels look better when the height of the uppers is taller and gives more balance to the bulk of the heels. Your choice of distressed leather on the lower parts and natty excel on the uppers is a good choice and will probably stand up better than all excel. I'll be interested in your thoughts after you have had a chance to wear the boots for awhile.

Thanks, I'm really enjoying them so far.
I love the 430 soles. I've had 3 pairs now with that sole. The 700 looks like it has less traction, but who knows.

I purchased a pair of SJ on ebay that are non celastic. I manage a motorcycle collection for a living and I can definitely feel the shifter on top of my foot.
I ordered a pair of Nomads for my boss and a pair of SJ with celastic toes for myself. They should be here next week.

    urbans,

How thick does the distressed leather seem? I was talking to Kyle and he said the distressed leather is the thickest of the light leather colors. I am really leaning towards something with that leather for my next pair.

That leather is amazing. Hands down my most favorite Whites leather.

I would say it's just as thick as all of the standard leathers. Def the thickest lightest brown leather for sure.

Does anyone know of any packer boots with a more pointed toe box than the ones in this thread? I realize it can look a bit like a 17th century witch's boot if there's a massive sole under a pointed toe, but the rounded ones here are all too casual.
