Got a mailer the other day about The Custom Shop. I had some custom shirts done there about seven or eight years ago when they still had retail outlets in NYC. Wasn't terribly impressed at the time, but I think the brand was bought out and changed hands a few times since.

Anyway, they are having a trunk show in NYC in 10/20-23 where they are offering suits from their "semi-custom line" (no indication as to what this phrasing implies) for $450 and full-custom for $595. Never had a custom suit made before, so I was thinking this might be a reasonable price point at which to dip my toes in the water.

Has anyone had any recent experience with this operation?
    Thanks
    DPD

Not sure if it's the same Custom Shop, but the Custom Shop in DC was running a "trunk show" so to speak. Apparently, from what I gleaned of their operations, they have certain factories do the work and full canvas construction is not part of the special (although the fabrics were like 8-9 oz).

In fact, they indicated they only had one factory where you could specify full canvas construction.

Personally, I would pass on the special, but it wouldn't hurt you to check it out. Just ask questions.
