NAMOR, what do you do to remedy this? I did the following on my Marlows: brush, wipe with damp rag, apply shapir reno, wait 30 min, brush with horsehair brush, buff with soft cotton rag. Mine look a little less dry and brittle now. They still look really dry to me though. Not much of a glow. Should this be repeated? Or should I only use reno occasionally?

An outstanding acquisition CEE. The RL PTB's are one of my favorite shell cordovan shoes. Did you get a good deal, because they look to be in good condition? Wear them in good health my friend. ps. colored laces can really set these babies off nicely.

Thanks! They're size 11 and feel like they're almost exactly midway between a 10D and 10.5D Barrie last PTB.

The heels have almost no wear and the soles look great. I feel very good about them - much better than paying $650 for resale Aldens in cigar or ravello. That whole situation got me looking in a new direction for "brown" shoes.

Haven't been in here for quite a while.

To be honest, I'd tend to believe that it is in fact florecent lighting that "fades" the color on these shoes. I'm no expert but mine were almost surely a "floor" model (bought on fleaBay) and I think they must have spent a good part of their early life under store lights. I do like it but I'd hate to say sunlight does the trick and have someone ruin a beautiful pair of shoes unknowingly.

Maybe someone wants to take a photo of your shoes in an exact location (and time of day/lighting), then leave them out as long as possible between wearings at say, your office, under florecent lighting and then take another photo to match the first. Maybe settle it once and for all. I can't help as mine are already so light

i am very happy you answered my question, mr. sheep. thanks for the info.

    thanks again!

Stitch just wear em. No need for "aging."

They look much lighter outdoors too

Thanks RTP! I'm so used to looking at Alden cordovan options that these are a true change of pace. Shined up really well too.

Happy to help (or at least attempt to)

I would say try leaving them under florecent lighting. Luckily I doubt that will hurt them but I have heard on fairly good authority that it will achieve your desired effect. And if not, no harm done.

Best of luck... But most of all, the previous advise is basically perfect... Wear them!

Stitchy, aren't you behind the curve to be picking up Marlows in late 2013 or is this a replacement/alternate pair?

    Whoa.

    Whoa.

48.7k posts and First? Shell? Purchase? You really are an anomaly.

Alright then, congratulations! You certainly picked a fantastic pair to jump in the pool with. That said, let me plant the next seed in your mind: Lindricks.
