for the dealio on sizing for crates, i think this is the most simple way to put it

if you want them to fit slim
    and stay slim overtime
    order true to size
and expect them to be very snug for the first few days, perhaps you'll have to wear them in the privacy of your own home for 3-5 days before they are viewable to the public eye.

if you go up a size, expect them to fit perfectly at first with just enough space around your legs to mold perfectly without being skin tight, but over time they will become, not baggy by any means, but they will start to have some extra space around the thighs and seat, providing a slight anti-fit while remaining as a "slim fit" kind of jean if thats what you want. this fit is what i have, my pictures are somewhere back on page 2. now i have to wear a belt, and can probably slip them off without unbuttoning (but i'd have to twist and turn, they arent to the point where they'd just fall off my ass if i jumped). when i bought them they sat with absolute precision on my waist, not tight so i had to squeeze in to button, but not loose enough to shift around when i move. man i really liked the fit when they were new, ive never worn anything with a more exact fit for my body.

yea, for some reason theres a big mix up everywhere about James III & IV, dont know why, my receipt says i purchased a pair of IV's from Barney's but on the interior of my pocket it states JAMES III in large lime green font, i dont know why or how it works out.

holly shit, TWO buttons POPPED OFF?
ok wow, crates have light construction but there hasnt been a single tear or sign of deconstruction after 5 months of pretty hardcore wear
i dont know what active endeavors must be doing with their jeans in the storeroom but appearently they put it through more than i have been able to in 5 months...
unless you got a pair of defective crates that slipped through the assembly line unfinished or something
    hmm =/ thats no good...

Yeah and also, anyone know where else to get Crates other than active endeavours (who are sold out of the James IV in black)?

Barney's in Boston is carrying both the black and the indigo James. I think that Factory People has them as well.

As for the defective Crates, that happens. I would contact the guys at Crate directly about that. Sorry for your crappy experience with Active Endeavors.

Im tempted to call Barneys and ask but I've learned not to buy jeans without trying them on first... BUT I have been looking up and down for weeks for a new pair of jeans. Frustrating...

Call Mauro (www.denimbar.com). He does exchange only, AFAIK, but he has such a massive selection of sizes and brands that if you can't get a pair that fits, you have the wierdest body ever and/or are massively constipated. BTW, you can return to your local Barney's if you use mail order instead of the net, and you'll just be out the shipping.

my crates still look about the same from the previous pictures on page two...
im going to taiwan soon, and its hot and humid as hell so i know my jeans will get pretty damn dirty but im bringing them and wearing them anyways
because its perfect-- when i get back from taiwan i'll be at exactly 6 months, and my jeans will be absolutely stinking filthy. so as soon as i get off the plane and get home, im goning to peel them off of my legs and throw them in the wash
ill post pre-wash and post-wash pictures then.

MY FUCKIN' CROTCH SEAM POPPED! During pirates of the carribean of all places (I'm NOT GAY!) Sooeeew pissed. Denim shouldn't make a person feel like they have fat thighs! (^_^)

Anyways, the actual denim isn't ripped... but man... does anyone know where I can get the seam resown and reinforced so it doesn't pop and uravel again? I got 'em from Lion's den and I don't think that boutique has any tailors.

Any tailor at all can do it. It's not a hard fix and this happens quite often.

HEh actually I've alraedy been to Denimbar a few times. The first time I went I decided I wanted the Nudie Ola's, then I cam back a few weeks later to try on RB6.B but they didnt have my size (28*30, which was too short since they said it'd shrink), and they arent getting new Rag&Bones for a while so I ahve to wait a few weeks till they get new Nudie Slim Jims (Dry Black).

However, I really cant stand the patch on the back of NUdie jeans and they garish seams, but I dont want to spend $240 on R&B so Im considering Crate which has the minimal detailing Im into, the black denim and low price. BUT Denim bar doesnt carry it and this other boutique is out for another few weeks as well.

So long post short, I just may call that Barneys...

have you killed any other jeans that way? I've lost a few pairs of diesel's and taverniti's are hinting at a peepshow (after 9 months though) SO i'm apparently pretty hard on my denim. I thought raw would be cool-nudies feel like they'd hold up; but that pocket logo is killing me and the rise on the apc ns is too high for my liking.

Just take a seam-ripper to the pocket stitching on the Nudies. Problem solved!
