Just my 2c but why would you want to wear the same pair of sneakers for 5. Years? Unless of course you are RFX and have like 100 pairs.

well does he mean actually WEARING continuously for 5 years, or owning them and wearing them for 5 years. I have many shoes that are around 4 or 5 years old but of course I haven't worn the fuckers every day of the week! and yeah... RFX has the f'g motherlode so he can rotate until the universe implodes!

well yeah sure... I mean I've got some old Lanvins, Diors, funky Chucks I got in Asia, a pair of Y-3's and others I've only worn occasionally.. literally a handful of times. I probably have 60-70 pairs of shoes (meaning sneaks, boots, dress) so inevitably there are those I don't wear often and next thing you know they're 4 or 5 years old. Why is that weird? Sorry I love shoes! Sneaks or otherwise. :embar:

This is a bit of a ridiculous question but I will nonetheless answer it. There are so many variables that they could "last" 1 year or 10. How much do you walk? Since moving away from a pedestrian city my shoes last much much more. Also I have ~50 pairs of shoes therefore I have 5 year old sneakers that still look as good as day 1. I meticulously clean my sneakers about ever 5 wears with jason markk sneaker cleaner. This prevents the build up of dirt and sweat that can destroy fibers. Some CPs will stand more wear than others, plain leather being the most resilient, then suede and cloth being the least. It also helps a lot if you resist from wearing the same pair of shoes on consecutive days. Some people might find this ridiculous but I use shoe trees on some of my CPs it will help prevent the leather from creasing and the odor from building up. Obviously CPs will last more than jordans but they will not last as long as a pair of good boots or dress shoes. So if you wear them on a daily basis and live in NYC expect them to look pretty shitty in 6 months.

They are a pair of sneakers for christ's sake. Just buy them and wear them. They aren't made out of gold.

My dad was all about the clothes too. I've inherited quite a lot of 70-80s Saint Lauren. Unfortunately the man had small feet, all those john lobbs gone to waste. [IMG]
