While searching I've found threads that touched on this subject a bit, but not in as much detail as I wanted, and I'm really clueless when it comes to colors. So my question is, with a navy suit (with white pinstripes if it makes a difference for anyone):

    1. What color shoes look best in your opinion? This isn't a question about black vs brown, but rather of all brownish and reddish and other colors that shoes are normally produced in.

    2. With the above mentioned shoe and suit combination, what tie and pocket square colors would look good? (One example is enough, but if you have more, please go ahead!)

    3. What color shoes should not be worn with a navy blue suit?

If someone also want to explain in detail the reasons for their answer or show pictures, it will be appreciated a lot. Thanks in advance!

I posted this photo in another thread but I think it's a great example of brown shoes looking good with a navy suit:

The only shoes I have that I won't wear with navy are my specs and my white bucks.

And my loafers, actually, but those not because of color ...

Yes, he would look great if that suit actually fit him.

I'll wear just about anything with Navy, from Chestnut Brown through Black. I like the look of oxblood shoes with navy as well.

How light would the tan be? Chestnut is the lightest I'd go, but I'd prefer darker still. I'm warming to black.

Navy shoes with a navy suit? Would you also wear navy socks? I think you'd have to, just to complete the circle of hideousness.

It does look painted on, doesn't it? I guess that's the look he's going for. Still, I really like that shade of navy blue and brown.

Black for something very formal. Otherwise medium to dark brown is preferable in my opinion. I don't do it myself, but some people pull off burgundy quite well.

Owning navy shoes is in itself questionable.

I've worn very light brown shoes with navy suit/pants - the high contrast is a little eye-catching so not for all occasions of course (not for all seasons either). For strictly business, I'd stick to burgundy and mid-to-dark browns

Depends on the shades of course. I can understand the haters though - it's a little out there
