I think In-and-Out Burger is overrated. I was prepared to be blown away when I had one but I didn't think it was anything special. I think people think they are better than they really are because they have a "secret menu" and are primarily on the west coast.

I'll take a Five Guys burger any day over In-and-Out.

In - n - out. Whenever I visit my family we hit the drive through on the way home, since I can't get it out here.

I do recall fatburger being pretty good as well.

Full Disclosure: I've never had a Whopper or Big Mac . . .

Since we can obviously reference regional chains, I'd also add NY Burger Co. Great stuff

Around 5 years ago in Dallas a friend was out to dinner with 3 others and engaged in this discussion on the way home. They defined fast food as anyplace that had a drive thru window. They picked up 7 burgers from 7 fast food places, parked the car and passed each burger around to sample. Everyone had just eaten so it as a level playing field. A local ice cream chain named Braum's was the winner.

I'll give the secret menu a try at in and out. Didn't think their regular burger was anything special.

I've never had the famous In-and-Out burger, but as far as east coast burgers go, Five Guys is up there. Next, I'd say Checkers. I love Checkers, yummm....

Freshness Burger is the BEST fast food burger I have ever had. Real cheddar cheese, fresh veggies, damn damn good. Better than In-n-Out and Dicks by a long shot.

Though, sometimes a bigmac is just what I want.

Good Stuff Eatery has some GREAT burgers if you're in Washington, DC. I also love Five Guys...I went to Wimpy's in South Africa and the burger was horrible it taste like I imagine plastic would taste.

I like the quarter pounder more than the big mac.
