Yeah. Lemmon in "Glengarry Glen Ross" was one of the best things I've ever seen.

    +one billion, he was fantastic.

He and Tony Leung were just outside my self-imposed age-range--both are terrific, imo.

Some of my generation, some not (and leaving out many already mentioned):

    Actors:

    Philip Seymour Hoffman
    John C. Reilly
    Russell Crowe
Kevin Spacey (before he became KEVIN SPACEY)
    David Straitharn
    Chris Cooper

    Actresses:

    Sissy Spacek
    Meryl Streep
    Kate Winslet
    Cate Blanchett
    Anne Hathaway
    Helena Bonham Carter

FWIW, I've always found Clive Owen to be kind of wooden.

I find it sort of puzzling how people define "their generation" on this list. Your disxlaimer notwithstanding, Your list ranges in age from 25 to 58. I KNOW LabelKing isn't even close to Christopher Walken's age, and Jack Lemmon? this poll should have read "best living actors? or something since nobody seems to be following the rules. [IMG] Where's Dakota Rube? He can vote for Walken!

So as not to put too fine a point on the "generation" issues, how about anyone living during my lifetime?

Let's also open the competition to TV/stage actors:

    John Lithgow.

    Fire away, Connie.

yea, except that Bale is Welsh.

Ok, anglo-saxon, my bad. For the record I consider that, say Banderas, is now an american actor, although he used to be a spanish one....

In addition to some names previously mentioned:
    Terence Stamp
Does being in Star Wars make Gielgud of my generation?
And if he counts, then so do Maggie Smith and Judi Dench.
    Also, Tim Roth.

I had surgery. I'm also going to say Dean Stockwell--his turn as Ben in Blue Velvet was a minor triumph.

I think you're thinking of Alec Guinness here.

You are, of course, right. I must be closer to that generation than I've been willing to acknowledge.

Absolutely. Unfortunately, he's been so typecast in English language movies that his talent may not be apparent to all
