There is going to be very little brand synergy on this list.

Alexander McQueen (not sure going forward)
    MMM
    W+H (basics and does everything)
    Jil (even now)
    TOJ (waiting to see chesterfield)
Thom/BBBF (since I'm going this way for work atm)
    Schneider
    Geller
Prorsum (since we're talking like... this winter)
    Spurr

Could have put on CPs or Lanvins but a) only wear the shoes and b) not so great lately.

Well, now that this thread is revived,

    Engineered Garments
    Gitman
    Our Legacy
    S.N.S. Herning
    Alden (don't own anything yet)

Meh, all I can think of. Top 5.

If you like his stuff, you'd probably like Richard Chai as well. Those 2 are probably my favorite designers out right now. One good thing about Chai over Lim is, generally speaking, quality is better.

Who are some good online Chai stockists so I can get a better idea? I'm familiar with that one collection (FW09 I guess) that's popped up in a few Gilt sales and the peacoat was much discussed on here but I thought a lot of that stuff looked way better on the runway than on anyone actually trying to wear it.

I just really like 3.1PL's FW10 stuff - awesome duffel, fur-lined trench, shawl harrington, and the sneakers are great. I feel like I could wear that buffalo check jacket too. I have been trying to find someone besides the flagships that sell men's footwear but without much luck. There is a velvety looking DB jacket on yoox for 195 I was thinking about grabbing but I'm not going a luxe fabric direction atm really.

For one, the Lim DB jacket has been made in a shit-ton of fabrics, over a few seasons. I own one in 100% cotton in a grayish green color. Check around, and I'm sure you could find that jacket in a material you like.

As to where to find Richard Chai.... I would say Odin in NYC is your best bet. They do phone orders, but for some reason, as of last season have stopped posting their selection online. AFAIK, they probably have the best selection anywhere in the country. I guess it helps when your brother owns the store.

Saks usually gets a few pieces every season, but their selection online is generally the most bland things from each collection. In the past Sak's has had more items in store than online, but I haven't been there in like 8 months, so I'm not sure if that has changed. Barney's in NYC also carries the brand, but again, they do not post it online. Saks and Barneys both do phone orders though.

And let me just add that it was a bit strange people posting such bad fits with Richard Chai. I mean the jacket sq posted, is probably my favorite piece of outerwear I own, yet I completely agree it looked like shit on him (then again I think he needed to size up, IIRC).

I guess it helps when half your wardrobe is other Chai pieces, as I think my wardrobe fits together quite nicely and homogeneously. Also his pants are the greatest things ever. The fit is what I would consider to be absolutely perfect; however, that fit is baggy, droopey, and cropped, so it's definitely not for everyone. I love it though.

I think the problem some have with it, is it's tailored clothing, but still very casual imo. To me, his aesthetic is about combing very tailored items with what would appear to be thrifted, heavily worn stuff (baggy pants, plaid shirts, etc.). I think people try to make it more formal than it should be based on individual items they see. I think most of the tailored stuff still has casual details, like zippers or drawstrings or the fabric or whatever, so when you try to combine it with more formal stuff it just doesn't look right. That's why I said I don't think most Chai would ever look good on sq. His wardrobe just isn't casual enough, imo. Then again, I think your wardrobe is a bit too formal, too.

And when I say formal I mean in terms of streetwear. I would consider Lanvin's runway formal, even though it has a lot of sneakers, no ties, etc. Where as a I would consider casual someone like Frost Birgens (yeah I know, super random example).

Thing is phone orders are cool and all but I want to see the stuff as much as possible considering I can't feel it or try it on.

The problem with Odin is they have awful customer service when it comes to getting back to people. I've emailed them twice asking questions about stock and never got a reply. They sell PL as well (if someone's a 42 they have a pretty cool hitop there on sale) so it's kind of annoying. The website is updated though; they post news and stuff.

I don't think your idea of a good pant fit is the same as mine.
