I do love banana pancakes. Any recommendations on good nightclubs/bars that aren't filled with hookers?

You see what you want to see.

Khao San Rd is a fantastic lilypad for getting cheaply and efficiently to the next stop in the world, wherever that might be for you.

I never heard of the metro. I just took the bus. Is this something new since 1998?

BKK has two train systems, one called the Metro (mostly underground), one called BTS (elevated sky trains). Pretty decent system, they cross paths at a few different locations - notably Asoke in Sukhumvit and at Chatuchak. BTS was all in place on my first BKK trip in 2003, opened in 99 or 2000 I think, and the Metro is newer still, so if you havent been since 98, then you wont have seen it.

Is there any talk of high speed trains in SEA?

as in crossing countries? not to my knowledge. Dont know that there is any benefit at the moment...seems like its another-day-another-budget-airline.

Theoretically a big highway is going in that will go from Saigon to like KL or something. Lots of issues with that though since VN/Cambodia are left hand drive, TH/MY are right hand...not quite sure that a dominant ideology has won out on that.

Trying my luck in this thread, hopefully someone with local knowledge will spot this. I have a friend moving to Bangkok right about know, and her birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks. Any recommendations for a place where I can order flowers online and have them delivered to her office/home?
Home area will be On Nut, work will be right next to the Phrom Pong BTS station.

Bangkok is known as the capital as well as the busiest city of Thailand. I am not from Bangkok but had a chance to visit this almost 5 years ago with my family. It is a nice tourist destination in Thailand and has fantastic attraction. I think Top Tourist Attractions in Bangkok are:
Wat Arun
Central World
Grand Palace & Wat Prakeaw
Bangkok Klongs

Huh??
