Thanks for your advice Stiva, Fxh and Cox.

I'd definitely wear a black bow tie, but getting a dinner suit at the last minute might be tricky.

I visited Rene of Deer Style yesterday so that I could use one of his suit stands/mannequins to take some photos of my new Inglese shirts. I also used a couple of new ties from Henry Carter that I received earlier in the week.

Shirts from Inglese via Deer Style, suits from Deer Style in Brisbane, and ties from Henry Carter:

[Note: I paid full price (well, after any applicable discounts on offer at the time, such as an SF discount code) for all products from Henry Carter and Deer Style.]

Buy a $300 Nespresso or the $80 Aldi version. Perfect coffee every time. Rich crema good selection of flavours etc. Best present I ever got from the wife.

The last Black Tie event I went to I may or may not have done 'the worm' on the dancefloor in my navy tux. Did my back in anyway.

I just picked up one of the U Milk machines for my desk in the office.

Really wasn't expecting much but it has really surprised me. Better coffee than 99% of the local cafes. I still love to make a coffee at home with a proper manual machine with hand ground beans.

Not to mention how quick it is!

Even better, get one of the unpopular colours on sale for about $150. I have to agree the coffee quality to non-faffing about ratio is second to none. Then again, if you like to faff du plessis, go nuts, plumb your set up in, turn your meth lab over to making dripolattes etc.

    Everyone needs a hobby.

meister - friends have an Aldi machines - as far as they go ok coffee but the need to buy capsules and not use my own coffee puts me off. Is there any hack for reusing the capsules and/or using your own coffee or getting a double shot?

I have an Atomic, effectively the model the Otto was based on. The Otto has a SS body vs alloy on the Atomic.
The extraction is slower and at less pressure than an espresso machine but still produces good results, although a bit temperamental if there are changes in temperature humidity grind etc.
It doesn't take up any bench space and is portable...to an extent. It definitely looks good when it is out on the bench though!
Sad to say that the Atomic doesn't get much use since i purchased a lever espresso machine.

I would love a tux (black, peak lapels w/ a Marcella shirt w/ turndown collar). Don't have enough occasions to wear one though :(
