No, it'll be lower, where my naval is. Yep, I have pretty bowed legs. The outside of the trousers will rest on the outside of the leg to make my legs look straight.

I'd say his jacket was fraying at the elbows and he could not bear to part with it.

Any Canali devotee's on Australian Members?

Went to their boutique in Sydney hoping to pick up a cheap suit on sale but couldn't find a model that even remotely worked for me.

The salesperson explained that they carried three models of which I tried two: the slimmest I dismissed because it had really narrow lapels, their next model up (their standard fit) was like a wearing a sack with a rope tied around the middle: the jacket was boxy and too long, trousers were really high with very little tapering.

Does Canali make suits for fit-ish guys or is it just for the fatties?

Versace packs its bags and leaves Melbourne after falling behind on the rent

Crown Casino's high-rollers are finding it harder to splurge on luxury watches and handbags after marquee brand Versace has shuttered the doors of its only Melbourne boutique.

The legendary Italian fashion house abandoned its prime retailing spot in Crown more than a week ago, emptying the store of goods but leaving behind what could be a sizeable rental bill.

Sources say Crown asked Versace to leave the premises after failing several months behind on its rent. The boutique's windows have been frosted over in an apparent bid to obscure the vacancy left in the casino's premium shopping promenade.

Zestland Prime, the local company that holds the rights to sell the Versace line in Australia, did not respond to a request for comment.

A source says business for the boutique has struggled to gain momentum, as the operator has been failing to update its collection, continuing to sell lines that were up to two years old.

It's not the first time local operator of the Versace label has run into difficulties, with Zestland nearly losing control after failing to renew its distribution license in 2009. The stores were relaunched a few months later.

The closure is unusual for the Crown complex, which includes a spate of high-end brands that cater to wealthy tourists and gamblers.

The Crown boutiques for upmarket brands Louis Vuitton and Bulgari are among their best performing outlets in the Asia Pacific region outside of China, industry sources say.

Versace's Sydney and Gold Coast outlets were still trading.

Crown did not respond to a request for comment.

Canali is generally considered a good fit for those with "wide shoulders". I have only seen them in drop 6. What this means for someone of my proportions is that a suit with a 46" chest and a correspondingly wide shoulder will have a 40" inch waist. If you have a 38" waist, for example, you will have to get the pants tailored and the jacket waist suppressed. Difficult if your drop is bigger. But that is almost always the case with OTR unless you are one of those fortunate few for whom OTR in some makers is a perfect fit. I have seen Isaia, Brooks, Armani and other brands with drop 7 and 8. They may have them in Canali, but I haven't seen them. So far as pants are concerned, you will rarely get the young man's ideal of slim fit and sub 8" opening OTR. And rise is a matter of personal taste, but it tends to be higher in high end brands (generalisation). Tailoring also required. Check out the result on page 30 of the WAYWRN 4 thread showing Cox wearing a Canali expertly adjusted. He is slim, and it works more than well. He is certainly not a "fatty". Failing that, MTM or bespoke.
