H and M confirmed as taking over all of the GPO in Melbourne. Hermes getting new digs in Collins St and Chanel has quadrupled its floor space in a new location in Russell St.

Linen blend DB .. I'd be inclined to go MTM, because with a DB there are so many factors that can go wrong. MTM may help mitigate some of these. Possibly.

Yes, retail is dying. Just ask Myers, DJs and Gerry.

Apologies, short memory I recall now you mentioned this earlier.

It all depends on whether continuing to wear your shoes will present further problems down the track, even with a factory refurb. Water leaking into the soles would be more likely if you keep wearing them and this could cause all sorts of problems like red rot, and possibly make them harder to bring back to good condition. Possibly.

So it may not be a simple case of trying to get your money's worth because the price of a refurb is the same, particularly if the quality of the end result will be influenced by persistent wear in their current condition versus putting them into storage until you can get them fixed.

Ha, yes, I am just trying to be a cheapskate....for a number of reasons, including ease, think I will just take them into the Edinburgh shop when I back in my hometown.

Would love to hear the view from the retail analysts.

The market seems to be splitting in an interesting way. Luxury on the up, middle men (DJ, Myer) on the way down, fast fashion on the way up.

H and M and Uniqlo (will emporium ever open?) will no doubt experience an initial boom and a long honeymoon (in the way that Zara seems to have).

Seems like the smart thing to do PS. Added bonus of getting to speak to some people in the shoe business about shoes!

So surreal. Was buying knives when Taka and Antonio Liverano walk in, buy some knives and leave. Still shaken.

I had a dream like that once. Ended with a lot of blood. And charges laid.

    Actually, it wasn't a dream.

    Probably for the best.

Fair enough. Like when I walked past Carlos Santana: a smile, a nod and keep walking.

Rock star tailors need their space too.
