Any recommendations for white jeans? I know Pink Socks has a pair of RMWs that he likes and fxh has a pair from overseas but that's all I've found in the last 6 or 7 months of posts in this thread.

Any recommendations (slim not skinny and straight cut) for less than $100?

The plan is to wear them this summer with linen shirts/jackets and snuff suede loafers and boots.

pink - I haven't given this a lot of thought but I mean shirt untucked from trousers.

And yes it should be hip length square bottom shirt or close to. It looks to me to be very pale pastel green cotton. The jacket is a resort wear item. It shouts summer/casual/relaxed/ weekend/party/dressed "up" for dining at night on holidays etc. Never to be worn with a tie.(or hopefully more than one button undone on placket. sigh.) As an aside its not a colour I like, on anything, but I'll concede thats a personal prejudice and it can look ok on some people - IF - they understand it as, what I'd term, resort wear. But its inherently hard to pair with much imo.

The temptation with stuff like this, and its hard to resist, is to go fully sick and wear red or pink chinos, sockless double monks, velvet slipons, or pale blue desert boots, pink linen shirt etc. And for some - say a party - it might well work like that. I think its a bit limited. However someone with bit of flair, which I'm sure boff has, and especially a darker tanned skin tone and a non prissy approach to wearing it will possibly work. It must look worn and used but not scruffy or dirty or pristine new looking though.

I can't see it working with blue denim jeans or woolen trousers.

Of course if you are going to Pitti, Melbourne Cup, Chapel Street coffee shop above High Street, or being "accidentally" photographed by The Sartorialist then all bets are off.

    http://www.jcrew.com/mens_category/pants/Denim/PRDOVR~59318/59318.jsp (slightly over $100)

http://us.levi.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2069582 (way under $100, but in the slightly roomier 501 cut. I personally prefer the 511)

On a denim related note, it's time to get a smaller sized pair of denim. The old ones have stretched out and legs/thighs have shrunk. Keeping an eye out for a faded wash for summer.

Just had a listing pulled fron eBay because the goods were counterfeit. Oops; I can kiss that money goodbye. Op shop donation coming up.

Bit embarrassing really, but you can't check everything.

Further to this, I have a Thomas Pink tie that says it is Made In Marocco. I've never heard of fake Pink, and I thought possibly this might be a variant spelling or something. Should I pull this ad also?

Do people really buy into this? The sentiment of weddings being only for the bride and groom seems like a relatively new development. I always thought that the wedding was a community celebration centred around two families being joined; that's certainly how it's treated in other cultures. In western culture, it seems like the focus on the exclusivity of the couple (although really it's the bride) is more the result of monetisation of weddings as they've become an industry.

All of the weddings I've been to, I have been in the bridal party, so I had no choice in what I wore (and I wore some shocking stuff). But if you're not in the bridal party, I say wear whatever you want; so long as you dress in a manner appropriate to the formality of the event and refrain from wearing a white dress, I say wear what you feel confident in. I wouldn't worry about dressing better than the groom. I can assure he won't notice and it's unlikely anyone else will either.

Full disclosure though, I'm pretty cynical about weddings and marriage and don't intend to enter into the institution any time soon.

I have a pair of raw denim that I love and wear to death. It's a 14.5oz denim. It's also slightly too large for me now.

I just want something in a lighter weight and lighter wash for summer.

That green jacket reminds me a lot of this picture; as fxh said resort wear super casual and imo should be worn as such :)

Just got invited to a party tonight and have to leave in 30 minutes, no time for a costume. Hopefully it doesn't turn out like Ted(How I Met Your Mother)'s Halloween party.

FH - I'm no soothsayer, but I reckon it's a fair bet that real life won't end up like TV.

Chaps - thanks so much for your thoughts on what to do with that pale green jacket. After much consideration I've decided that this is the look that I will be going for.....
