Simple answer: laziness and no one notices when I'm seated at my desk with the button undone. I don't interact with other people much...

Got a university ball on the 27th and the midnight blue tux from a Thai MTM outfit just arrived today. Single button, wide peak lapels, welted pockets and dark blue grosgrain lapels and fits quite well. The guys claim it was half canvassed and I'm more surprised at the 3 day turnaround. They started production on Saturday and finished on Wednesday. I guess now it's a matter of getting the bow ties and cummerbund.

Half Windsor is sufficient you don't get the bulk of full Windsor and its not as time consuming.

Ok thanks man, decided not to get it.

Sigh, it's so hard to find a good pea coat. Want those WWII Navy US Pea Coats but my best bet is online and I don't even know my measurements plus they all have huge shipping fees.

Top floor of the canberra centre, next to Marcs. It only opened late last week I think.

The cheapest one, $15, and it came in like 10 days. Pretty good considering how crappy USPS is.

herringbonrpete: whats wrong with paisely?! also, in talking about compiments, no one has mentioned grooming etc. i reckon that makes a big difference.

Foxhound - don't give up mate. it gets easier, imho, once you are a few years older, to pull, as that age gives you a wider resource pool, so to speak, and a bit more confidence and experience.

Nothing - I have never seen one I liked - might be because in the late 80s I saw it a bit - on waistcoats too - and didn't really like it. I'm talking about ties mostly. It's a rule for me, not for all.

I was leaving myself wide open there - inserting the wood into the shoe...indeed...

^^ I don't like them either, nor any patterned tie for that matter.

I favour striped ties, (various widths but not pin stripes - take note relatives at Christmas!), and yes, plain. My very first tie was a burgundy grenadine which predates SF by a while. It got lost in a move way back and now I plan to replace it.

I've never had a tie so versatile, understated and yet so nice.
