I've got a Filson 257 and it's amazing how much you can fit into it.
I've had it for less than a year now, but like Gerry said, the canvas is softening, and the leather details are aging very nicely.

It can take some serious beating, too.

    Absolutely love it.

In my experience Needsupply is the best place to get it. Theres a monthly styleforum 10% code in the affiliate thread and shipping to australia is $17 which isnt bad from the US at all. I havea 257 and a small duffle. These two bags give me:
    1. briefcase for the office carrying the laptop/notes
    2. gym bag
    3. weekender bag
    4. carrying both for a week long trip.

Couldn't be happier and for the price i used to think they were expensive, but the durability of the bags make them excellent value especially in comparison to other bags!

Otter green 257 owner. Love it. Many colleagues (male) with briefcase envy lol. The ladies at work like it too. Got it from FilsonGuy on the B&S forum about 25 bucks cheaper. Good guy to deal with.

Mate, they couldn't care less about the bag. It's an excuse to chat you up.

I guess it didn't help me when all I talked about was how I loved the bridle leather, the canvas, etc. You are obvi more practiced than I am. You devil.

    lol.

Talking about the bag = Forget it girls, he's taken.
Saying I'm 'more practiced' = Polite (and correct) way of calling me old!

How right you are - although the Santoni website's own sizing chart would have us believe that Santoni 9.5 = UK 9.5 = US 10.5 = EU 43.5.

Anyway I solved my little problem by hoofing it down to the Santoni boutique here in Shanghai yesterday and trying on some shoes in styles similar (wingtip Oxfords with chisel toe) to the pair I wish to order. Which confirmed my suspicion, and Journeyman's observation. Their 9.5 fits my size 44 foot perfectly, whereas in size 10, the eyelets were already abutting without tightening the laces.

I felt like a cad trying shoes on with no intention to purchase, but hey, Santoni will still sell me a pair of shoes - just at a reduced mark-up.

The Shanghai boutique is pretty nice BTW. Large, with a good selection from Goodyear-welted basic lines through to LE and even offering a MTM service. Worth a look if you're in town. Opposite the Peninsula Hotel on the Bund.

I am about to enter the world of DE shaving - I got myself a Merkur HD, Trumper sandalwood shaving cream and skin food and as well as some Derby Extra blades. Also got myself a better brush than I used to have (I'll use this for awhile before upgrading to a badger hair brush). I think I'm pretty much good to go.

    Tomorrow it begins [IMG]

Does anyone mind posting what they consider to be a wellfitting/perfect shirt of their own. I find SF is lacking in shirt fit pics for reference.

You need to add paisley to your collection as a priority.

I have a close friend who was made in Yugoslavia and he uses a German badger hair brush but I think the badger was British.

    #Suspense. #Babyface.

In other news, new episodes of Mad Men and Game of Thrones keeping me well-entertained after dinner. At which point, GN should have already answered this nail-biting question. For those not yet up to date with the current season of Mad Men, last episode was e.p.i.c.. Watching new ep now.
