Thanks for that. Do you know when the sales start? We are there mid-June to mid-July.

I would run a mile from them. I noticed that they say on the page Italian mills but I bet it's made in China. I had one from an 'Italian mill' from STP and it lasted a year then fell apart. It pilled like crazy after the first wash then the stitching went under the arms then the elbows gave out.

If your going to buy cashmere spend a few quid on quality items and they will last for years. The one Jason has on today looks good.

Speaking of Merino I have a zip shawl collar jumper i bought in 2000 that is still going strong, it was made in China.

I love tassel loafers. Always have. Probably always will.

I can't tell anyone at work, so there it is, guys - told all of you.

    Thanks.

You might be in luck- Paris Soldes 26 June to 30 July.

    http://www.tout-paris.org/dates-soldes-paris-22240

If first time in Paris and shopping, absolutely vital to learn the "detax" procedure. Google is your friend.

Get Metro Navigo Decouverte weekly pass.

If going to museums, check out days in which the particular museum is close. There is also a free admission day every month I think.

Most shops close on Sundays, except Champ Elysee and another shopping district I cannot remember. Exceptions I think during 1st week of soldes.

Lastly, if you have time, Switzerland by TGV Lyria is only 4 hours trip, and if you book early enough, one way fares are as cheap as Euro36 per person.

My sole experience of J.Crew cashmere is a negative one.

I was in the Men's Shop on the corner of 79th and Madison in New York, and a middle-aged, bald, gym-loving, camp man was trying on a sweater in a purple colour. He was trying on an S, not wearing anything underneath and even then would have benefitted from trying on an L. He paraded about in front of the mirror and asked every other customer what they thought of it.

I must wear my blue suede tassel loafers a couple more times before the weather becomes too autumnal.

When I was a teenager or a bit older I used to look at Alden Cordovan Cigar coloured tasseled loafers in films and ads in magazines and imagine myself in dark grey trousers or suit and those shoes.

Sadly I couldn't find any for years and by then I realised my feet don't work properly with slip ons or vice versa.

The old Californian Tuxedo of Navy jacket, Blue open necked OCBD, Khaki chinos and those loafers is hard to beat in the right context.

I think that at my age, that "uniform" is right more often than it's not.

    Hi gents, what would be your opinions on the next suit that I should add to my wardrobe? I'm a 24 year old working in a law firm in Sydney. I have a fairly tanned complexion with black hair. So far, I've got;

1 deep blue plain single breasted
    1 navy plain single breasted
1 petrol blue plain single breasted
    1 charcoal plain single breasted
1 light grey pinstripe single breasted
1 dark grey nailhead single breasted
1 midnight blue chalkstripe single breasted
1 navy double pinstripe (almost chalkstripe) flannel single breasted
1 blue plaid windowpane check double breasted

I think the next suit will be the last one I add to my collection for a while, haha.

It isn't clothes but a helpful addition to any trip to Paris. I'd strongly suggest not to show the link to the missus. You'll return broke.

Also, pop in to Herme's in St Germain des pres - it's his patisserie store which I think are greater masterpieces than his macarons for which he is particularly famous.
