^Steve looks to be in his early to mid forties in that photo.

I'm not about to wear any sneakers.

Just ridiculous to say people should not do x or y past this age or that.

Depends on the person and the context and the item.

You are way too old to be saying things like that.

I'm way too old full stop.

I'm so old my mother is dead.

Mildly, or possibly not at all. Though how good are the words 'absolutely bloody' when they are together.

A pair of suede sneakers are fine or (pushing the limits) Dunlop volley.

GF, they're used to my odd footwear by now - green or blue boat shoes, driving mocs, striped espadrilles. Plain white, knitted sneakers would be positively dull!

Hmmm... Well, there *is* a lawn bowls club down the road from my house....

Had a look at some snaps from the Melbourne Spring Fashion Week's "Mister Runway" show.

The usual crop of disastrously too-short, too-tight jackets - when will these people finally wake up? - but a couple of the Dom Bagnato offerings were strong.

I'm predicting a fairly embarrassing Melbourne Cup Week this year, featuring a motley assortment of sleeve-tattooed footballers, TV Bachelors and paleo chefs squeezed into pre-shrunk tuxedettes, sockless jodhpurs and floral leggings, being cooed over by leggily tanned blonde journalistes and vloggers of ill revlute.

Me? I'll be down at the TAB.

Sneakers are so comfortable I will never give them up. Nothing even comes close to how easy and comfortable they make walking long distances. Conversely I think almost all brogues/leather shoes (that aren't black leather derbys with black jeans) look reaaaaaaal dadcore.

The Melbourne Cup is a piece of shit.

Hey @LonerMatt I've been meaning to ask about where you used to look to keep up on Melbourne/Australian fashion outside of checking graduate runway shows and the like whe you were keeping up with local stuff? Mostly interested in menswear but I still have a look through both since there's not many menswear only shows that are worth looking at (just had a look at the 'Mister' show Coxsackie mentioned).

I've never been hugely into fashion - I had a few friends who were more into the scene than me. I think that because I have strong opinions it seems like I'm more knowledgable than I am.

We used to just rotate to a few stores: dom comme, eastern market, up there store, the one in Royal Arcade that's upstairs but not the rapper fuccboi one, cose ipanema and maybe one or two more.

In terms of very local stuff I've never really found anything other than Song for the Mute - maybe PM Rais or Naka - Naka's a fashion student and Rais is a lot more cognizant than I am.

    Sorry bro.

I've got a pair JM. Great shoes and comfortable but my oh my they attract dirt. Easy enough to clean but I end up cleaning them far more often than I should. Leather, suede or canvas would be better for less upkeep.
