The thing you aren't getting is that making your own furniture, self-restoring "unique" antiques, and decorating with things collected on your travels all have absolutely zero relevance to the goal of creating a beautiful space. Self-made, self-restored, self-collected things can all be (and usually are) ugly as sin.

Your space may not be ugly, but I have no reason to believe one way or another until you show me what it looks like. I could not care less about what it says about you as a person. I won't even try to tell.

So, go ahead, show us your living room. That challenge goes out to all of you. Show me what an honest room looks like that reflects your eccentric soul. Prove to me you aren't merely attempting to justify an ugly room and zero taste.

Naturally you would be the first to reject the challenge. Let's make it easier for you, then. Why don't you post a picture of the bird room? I will Photoshop out all the bird furniture and bird accessories, and then you can regale us with how the empty rectangular room (the whole of which you can't even see in the picture) is an architectural masterpiece.

Hey, i haven't started any threads about my place lately. How many have you started by now?

I'm just getting started with remodeling and redecorating the place. I'll get back to you when I'm happy with it, sometime in 2014 I hope!

Please don't take my attempt at 'reading' your place as a personal attack, I certainly did not mean it that way. I hoped my respect for you would be apparent, but I see from your reaction that I missed that mark. I apologize for making you feel bullied.

I'll do you one better. Here is a wide selection of the interiors you have posted, in which the furniture and decoration evidently play no part in your admiration for their startling architectural genius.

I don't know if this thread is insane or just everyone in it. Probably both.

The room I am in is rather pedestrian, FYI.

My living room (everything by Cassina, except for the Zeng Fanzhi painting and Eileen Grey chair):

Oh yeah, water bottles are ColetteXFijiXLagerfeld and the beige Vicuna stole was brought back from my trip to Peru, I had real meaningful contact with the Indians working there.

You've noticed the clever angular interplay between my Ligne Roset Togo sofa and Eileen Grey dragon chair?
