Never heard of him. You can try to be a bully all you want, it really doesn't phase me and only reflects back upon yourself.

With regard to the sizing: Some of the difference can be accounted for by the last. Additionally, the McTavish is made from cowhide, vs. most AE's in calfskin. Cowhide isn't as supple and doesn't form to the last as tightly, resulting in most people sizing down 1/2 size or width. Bummer on the gash, though...

What's the difference between cowhide and calf leather? I thought they were the same thing.

    A cow is a grown-up tougher-skinned calf.

Thank you for the insight, ryansto- I didn't know that the cowhide vs. Calf made a difference. I think a 10.5 would have been perfect.

Did anyone else get in on this deal? Looks like they still have them in most sizes for $188. I got the snuffs and am considering getting the tan now. No squeaking so far with mine (knock on wood).

The pics on Amazon do not do them justice, they look a lot better in person.

    Thanks Al! Hmmm.....
I have Alden #8 and Ravello but no Cigar. But according to a post by jkater1 and pictures looks like Dark Brown is pretty close. http://www.styleforum.net/t/141581/allen-edmonds-appreciation-thread/18900#post_6287212
Ouch!! X2 especially with shipping, yeah being overseas can be no fun in many ways. For me I am the same size on the 1 and 5 last. But some other have had to change sizes between the 1 and 5 last. For the rough collection which is Horween Dublin leather I have to size down a half size. I am normally a 10D in the 1 and 5 last which is TTS but for my McTavish, Elgin and Black Hills I had to size down to a 9.5D. Hope that helps and good luck!

Ask the Hound about his posted vids on our (Alden) thread showing a man masturbating while caressing his shell cordovan shoes. He doesn't garner a great deal of respect on our thread either. He does have a point though, about "made in the USA." Regardless, AE is a great American company for which I have a ton of respect.

They look like the Loake Strand (a great shoe, BTW, And my first foray into English shoes) but the broguing is different.
