Eddie George at the ESPYs. On a side note, I don't understand why so many of these wealthy athletes, most of whom are wearing tailored suits, can't get the right length on their coat sleeves.

Agreed. I usually buy seconds, unless there is a sale on firsts for the particular model I'm after. I've never paid more than $225 for firsts of any of the standard price level calf models.

Until now, the only blemishes I've seen have been minor and superficial in nature. A chip on the welt, a small mark on the vamp, maybe some stitching that is ever so slightly off center...all unnoticeable to the untrained eye. I've heard a few stories of undesirables, but overall AE is very accommodating when it comes to returns on 2nd's and are very willing to get you a replacement, if available in your size.

It's a great way to be able to afford numerous models that you're interested in, that you might not be able to afford at the full retail price point.

Nice! Been waiting to pick these up during the anniversary sale. I already grabbed the black ones from the last Brooks Brothers sale.

Only other noticeable flaw is a very minor stitching error on the back of one of the soles, near the heel. They really are a great looking shoe, so I may look at taking it to a cobbler if AE doesn't have any replacements available. The additional sole, heel and footbed details are quite nice when compared with the standard line products.

And why people wear brown shoes with black suit. ? Even dark navy is questionable.

Thanks! 10D. Though, I'd size down 1/2 size because of the 5-last, if I had to do it again.

    Thanks!

I probably agree with the brown shoes/black suit. However, brown shoes and a navy suit is completely fine and far from "questionable."

The no brown shoes with black or navy suits to me is the older more conservative rule or guideline. Probably still holds true on Wall St and financial type institutions. I agree that brown shoes with a black suit doesn't work. Brown or even walnut with a navy suit is very appealing to me and much more fashion forward. But maybe not on Wall St!!

You should see what some of the Wall St. boys are wearing now-a-days...

Hey Guys. Looking for a casual pair to wear with chinos or jeans: Players or McTavish? Both can be had for about the same price, $220+tax (unless you guys know of somewhere else cheaper). Thanks

I'd choose the walnut Players, but both are good choices.

Sizing on the Players shoe is trickier than the McTavish. I recommend going in for a fitting first. If you are familiar with both lasts and know which size fits well, then the Players shoe is a slightly better choice.
