Fantastic looking boot...but why a flat welt??? A hearty elements-inclined boot needs a storm welt!!

J/k I def want one too...

Thanks kahuna. I have the AE leather lotion, do you think that will work? I'm not sure of the difference.

Yeah I got them yesterday, but I'm going to return them, they've got some nasty loose grain around the opening. Not sure if I want to replace them with firsts or not. Here's my photo album

    Thanks, Pep!

Mine are the Dublin cognac leather model. A few comments:

    1. Almost everybody's pics here look better than the AE website model photos.
    2. Mine was taken this morning during golden hour (1 hr after sunrise or 1 hr before sunset). Makes women look like supermodels, and all shoes like they're cordovan.
    3. When looking at the AE site, I noticed the reverse welt is much lighter on the stock photo. Mine look almost black, but I just rechecked them, and they are actually dark brown. I like this better.
    4. If you look for these on the Shoebank, they're just listed as dark brown, but going by the style number (4045S), the number matches the Cognac on the main site.

Thanks everyone for posting pictures of the new boots. I think I am going to order the Freiburg in brown. How similar is the fit of the 201 last to 511 last or the 65?

I didn't use a flash, there was an overhead light nearby. I'll take a pic tomorrow outside in the daylight. The boots are more red than brown. They look great with gray or black jeans or non-dressy pants. They might be too red for khakis.

201 is slightly roomier than 511 in the toe, plus the Freiburg leather is softer and more forgiving than regular calf.

Welp, the tan 13B firsts sold out, so I either keep my seconds and live with the loose grain or send 'em back and get something different.

@cc808314 My 7D Freiburg is supposed to arrive at Freeport this Monday (russet) so I'm trying it to. Did you notice the 1st quality on the main page starts at 7.5? Someone messed up in production....

Anyway, Ben said the 201 would feel larger than the 511 and 65, but even though I found the Dundee 2.0 too large in a 7, the increased # of eyelets may help. Didn't sound too promising. You're narrower than me - if I were you id go for the 1sts.

Showed this pic to my wife. Here response was "Yeah! We'd look great together with you wearing those." Told her what they cost. That reply was "Umm..." Going to have to be patient for a pair of those...

Recraft question. Does AE replace the heel with the same style that came with the shoe? I want the same one in the picture and not the all rubber on other shoes.
