Have any of you guys with high insteps found certain lasts to be more forgiving/ comfortable? I have, what I believe to be, a normal arch, however my instep has forced me to go up a width in shoe (108 last and still not 100% comfortable) and am thinking about purchasing some new shoes during the Anniversary Sale, and would like something more accommodating.

My Leeds are the most comfortable AEs I own. They're bluchers on the 1 last, both of which are a godsend to those with high insteps.

For derby/bluchers, I go from my Brannock size C up to E.

For oxford/balmorals, I go 1/2 size down and wider up to 3E.

Wow! You go from a C to a 3E for oxfords/balmorals?!? Is that, and your derby/blucher increase, across all lasts? Do you have trouble with your heal staying put when increasing the width by that much?

Thanks! I do very much like the look of the new Rogues! I have only tried on shoes in the 108 last (as there are many discontinued/cheap models available), do you have any experience in the sizing comparisons? Do you find the 201 last to be true(r) to your Brannock size?

I also go down 1/2 size in length with balmorals; I go from my Brannock size 10.5 C -> 10 3E. There's a little bit of space width-wise but no heel slippage.

Thanks very much. I bought them from a fellow SFer (mentioned him in my reply earlier, don't want to keep spamming his notifications).

Awesome collection! It's quite cool to see the variation between two different Walnut pairs. I'd say my pair is more like the darker pair.

I have the opportunity to buy a pair of Walnut Shell Strands from a local menswear store for $425. Really considering it. The only thing that might be an issue is that they're a 9E and I usually wear 9D

Sounds like a great deal but if the shoes don't fit you properly you'll be left with very durable shoes that you hate to wear. Sounds like you should pass on it.

I would definitely try them on in store... try it on with a pair of thin dress socks and thicker ones. Going from C to D or D to E doesn't seem like a big deal, but it does make a pretty good difference from my experience

Try them on. That is a great and rare make-up at a fantastic price.

The ones I may part with are the Walnut calfskin Daltons (unworn) in 11.5E and the Walnut shell Daltons in 12D. My friend has first dibs on the shell. If he doesn't want them, I may list them for sale.

+1 for trying them on, but if they're too big for you, don't do it. It'll just make you unhappy.

They'll be too wide for you. You should pass on them and then let me know who the retailer is [IMG]
