I need some help guys, a friend of mine offered to purchase AE's for me to return a favor. I'm not quite sure what to get. I already have a pair of walnuts strands

And Dalton's as well as Merlot Cliftons. What would you suggest? I wear a suit to work every day for the most part or a variation of a sports coat with a tie. I'm not a fan of black shoes so that is out.

Dark brown is needed. Strand/McAllister/Park Avenue. Dark Brown anything pretty much will do.

Yes, if you're going for versatility. Dark brown burnished or dark chocolate. Bourbon is awfully close to walnut, which you have covered. How dark is your TBNY?

If you wear coat and tie a lot, and given what you already have, brown Fifth Avenues or wingtips.

I find Nordstrom usually has a great dress belt selection. Got a burgundy Trafalgar one there awhile back. J

    Hey all,

New to the forum, been lurking for a while. I recently purchased a few AE's, the Eastport (Tan), Franciscan (Black), and McAllister (Walnut). So far, I love them, but I'm noticing that the toe/sole on the McAlisters seems to have curled up a bit. They've always had shoe trees in them and have been well cared for (wore them only 10 times). I attached a few photos below. It seems like this may be curling too much - does this look normal? I did search McAllister and Strand on google image and found some pictures where the same thing seems to be happening to other people. Thoughts?

    Thanks!

Thanks -- my main man at the Port Washington location is always on the lookout for good quality seconds for me =]

Because of him, to date, I have not purchased one pair of firsts.

Are those Francescas newer? they look like they have not been worn as much as those McAs. I think you would want to put some heels tap on those, they look like the toes are just wearing out faster than the rest of the sole which give the illusion that they are curling up.

yeah there seems to be some excess toe wear - I have seen that happen when I wear shoes with toes slightly too long for my feet (viz, when I wear 5-last shoes in the same size as my size in the 1 last, they have more toe wear, and more curling)... since I switched to going down half a size and up a width (or two) on the 5-last, the toe wear and curling reduced considerably...
