Long time no speak (work has had me by the balls =\) -- how should I size these?

I REALLY want a pair =] Btw, Rush Streets come in tomorrow, do you still have yours and are you liking them?

For people with huge shoe collections (I'm getting there -- started about a year ago and have 12 pairs of AE): What do you do to maintain your shoes? I used leather cleaner & leather conditioner & AE Polish the first time I got them, and AE Polish as necessary (about once per ten wears) thereafter. With twelve shoes in my rotation, I have some shoes that I wear once or twice a month; applying polish as needed might mean I don't do anything to them for a year.

Will they be fine, or should I do something to maintain infrequently polished shoes?

Yet another amazing shoe from the Independence Collection: The Jefferson. The saddest part of my day is removing them from my feet. [IMG]

I generally go about the same process that you've mentioned, and I use strictly AE products. However, I would still apply conditioner at the least to your shoes every few months even if they're not getting much wear, simply to keep the leather healthy. To answer your question, though, yes they should be fine.

Luv, what would your thoughts be on this same outfit, but with a black gingham check shirt and a light gray sport coat with less of a pattern (say nailhead or small herringbone)?

I've always found that I wear my knit ties more in the spring/summer. I generally only wear them in the fall/winter with a tweed sport coat or under a v-neck sweater.

That was my original thought as well. They seem spring-ier to me.

That would probably look pretty good. My difficulty with gingham is that I take it as a very casual pattern and black shoes still tend to retain an element of formality or "city" that is hard to dress down. Even casual outfits with black shoes tend to look rather "sharp". I don't know that gingham can pull off sharp. That would be the biggest chalenge to overcome in my mind. If that piece doesn't look incongruous then I would suggest it probably looks pretty good, but I would need to see it.

Two benefits to your approach are as follows: The dark plain tie would serve to mute much of the pattern in the shirt. AND The jacket being plain would actually be MORE coherent with the general vibe of the monochrome outfit than mine was. That said, plain gray jackets in worsted nailhead or similar weaves often look like suit jacket orphans. I would highly recommend that the jacket have contrast buttons and patch pockets at very least. If not swelled edges on the lapels and pick stitching as well.

    How could you tell? [IMG]

Seriously, though, I don't wear shorts that often, and I'm definitely not a beach bum. Just got a wild hair today.
