If shoes have to be made for you because they aren't in stock are they considered MTO and are therefore unreturnable?

No. Allen Edmonds typically stocks pre-made uppers on shelves. If they are being made for you, they just finish assembling. 100% returnable just to be clear.

That pesky poron...I feel you. BB is full poron or just the heel?

Seems like it runs a good way down the shoe on the BB where the Independence Jefferson seems to be more cushioned in the heel and tapers down quicker.

MTO Pebble Grain Jeffersons out in the wild for the first time today. A little summer suit and red sock action. Loving these so far.

What is on everyone's current AE want list?

For me I would have to say:

Brown Cordovan Strands (instant purchase if the right price on a used pair or seconds pops up)

The recent MTO using chili grain had me thinking of a MTO MacNeil with walnut or chili grain. Sad to hear they are currently out of stock of the grain leathers. Possibly a CXL MacNeil could fill the void.

I was wanting a grain LWB or Dalton. I might drown my sorrows with these...

Quote:From my understanding increasing the length will gain a slight width increase. the 1/6th and 3/16th is just standard for moving around different sizes. So the 8E prob gave a tiny bit more room. However I'd be worried about the foot falling in the correct locations in the shoe. I know I size down to an 11.5 in the 65 last in order to get proper placement from a 12D in most shoes. Found an 11.5 in the 108 was better as well. Its just the quirkiness of the lasts used.

FYI, brand new Strands are currently $249 right now on Amazon. You can also subscribe to their Clothing and Shoes newsletter to get an extra 20% off coupon, which will bring the Strands down to $199.

The real question for me is whether AE will acquire some grain shell.....
That would be something I jump on with zero hesitation.

+1. Hopefully they are making the Eagle Country MTO by then, too. That's what I was trying to get right at the cutoff.

Most of us can just hang around and wait for the next big seconds sale -- but keep in mind these shoes are built to sell for $365, and if your seconds look good you've picked up two pairs of shoes for just a little bit more than a guy off the street would pay for one.

Reasonable? Absolutely. Given your circumstances you did a fine job. I hope they fit well and look good!
