    8D is too long.

It is only a little tight at the vamp area. Unfortunately, i neglected to get myself measured, the sales associate simply suggested in getting a wider shoe, (7.5E rather than D). I Figured she just tied the shoes too tight. The toe box and heel feel comfortable.

Is there a shoe similar to the fifth ave or park ave in black but is roomier in the toe area?

I've tried every size of the above mentioned shoes (9D, 9E, 9.5D). The 9D fits fine but way too cramped in the toe. The 9E becomes way too wide but the toe feels ok.

Been looking for a plain, black, captoe for a long time but can't find any.... I usually wear a 9D in barrie last for Alden, but I haven't found any similar shoes in Alden either. Can anyone help?

are loafers able to be very dressy shoes? i believe that laceups are more dressy. I am deciding between the Park avenues or the the veronas or presidio. anybody know which will be the better buy as far as which i can wear to occasions. i will be buying a brown pair of shoes for darker colors & a black pair for my grey slacks.

Get a brown pair of loafers and a black pair of lace-ups.

I got a pair of the strands in walnut and I like them, but...I belive they are too small.

I measure 11.5 but I got a 10 when I went to the store because of my heel slipping in larger sizes. So here is my problem, when I walk in them my forefoot hurts and this didnt happen when I was in the store. So I wore them to a fundraising dinner tonight and I was uncomfortable the entire time. The shoes are worn, tonight was the first time, and I dont see myself wearing them again because they are that uncomfortable, do they accept returns?

Please clarify...who are 'they'? The store you purchased them from? or Allen Edmonds? Have you checked your receipt? Return policies are usually printed on the receipt.

Have you tried Brooks Brothers? They offer a number of shoes in both D and E widths so you might find something that would fit. I like the Peal perf captoe. Sounds like you can skip the $350 "made in USA" models, those are Allen Edmonds I believe. If you wait for a sale you can get a substantial discount, the Xmas sale approaches 40% off IIRC.

I bought them from a Allen Edmonds store and the receipt does not say, but the website says 14 days for unworn shoes. I do not want my money back I just want the correct size. So I am assuming I will have to go up a half size or a full size and go to a narrow shoe. Part of me feels that the sales rep should have helped more, but I may be wrong. I did get a weird vibe from him though.

Its your responsibility to voice any fit concerns.

    You've now worn them.

To ebay or B&S they go.

Heel slippage is related solely to width. You sound like you're trying to fit a square peg into a round hole on the 5 last. I'm not sure why so many people think that they can just alter the size and have it work for them.

This is the longest in length of all of our lasts; best for a long, narrow foot.

Does that describe you? If not, then you should have bought something else. Put them on ebay or B&S as Quad came, try to recoup most of your money, and then try another last or another brand.

Thanks for your reply but I would argue that it was the sales reps job to inform me of this and that was not the case and for that reason I feel that they should take them back and give me credit towards another pair. It's not like I wore them for a month and said, o no now they don't fit.

I'm going to go to the store and hopefully the rep will agree and give me credit, if not I just call Amex.

Go to the Allen Edmonds store you bought them and see if you can get a refund or at least get them exchange for another pair. Try another last if the last 5 doesn't fit you. I also bought some AE, worn them, did not like the fit, so i decided to take them back to get it exchange for another pair. But that was with Nordstrom, not the AE store.

That's what I am going to do, hopefully in the next couple of hours because I leave Monday. I wouldn't understand why they wouldn't accept them though, with ski boots for instance I have worn a pair on a trip and it was horrible and came back and they let me get another pair. Neiman's is the same way, I swear those people would accept imitations of products because all they do is get my receipt and process the return. I'll post the outcome. Posted via Tapatalk

Went to the store and they took them back and gave me a larger size. Now to enjoy the shoes.

What do you guys think of the new Kenilworth? A three-eyelet plain-toe blucher on the 5 last... looks solid to me.

looks like a snoozer to me.

the plain toe looks a bit weird in the more rounded AE lasts.

Weird how? And yeah, that's a fair point. But it is a plain-toe blucher... they're kind of boring by definition.

I'm not sure...a bit slouchy maybe...i.e. lacking structure.

I tend to like my plain toes with a bit more chiseling to them.
