Are Bayfields available anywhere anymore besides MTO? I'd probably just "make my own" at the Promontory Point price if MTO is the only option left available.

I think I could still access the order records/receipts through my AE log-in, but if not I would still have the e-mails and, since they were special order webgems, the order # is printed on each box as well. That is also why I'd never thought of returning them - they were "no returns on webgems" orders. The only marks on the black shells are some light scuffing to the sole from crossing the parking lot from my on-campus apartment to the moot courtroom building.

There are no brick and mortar stores within several hundred miles of where I am for school, but if I could, say in a couple of months after the semester, if I returned for credit that credit should be easily applicable to future MTO orders, right?

If I remember correctly the shell ones were a $495 webgem special so I could be willing to sell them for what I paid, which would be a significant savings to the buyer off the current $725 price.

They're only available at Lands' End and the only size they show on their website is 9 D. Not sure if they will ever get any more.

    I know right! [IMG]

I'm sure glad you brought this up! (though I'm sure some of the other forum members will soon wish you hadn't).

Yes, it is a tremendous oversight on the part of AE that they don't take pictures that accurately reflect the color of their shoes. The pictures on the flyers they send out are just fine, I cannot for the life of me understand why the pictures aren't better on the website. On other websites that sell the same exact AE shoes they have far better pics. Their website makes it virtually impossible for anyone who doesn't live near an AE store to truly know what they are looking at.

AE is a great company, with near perfect customer service... IMO it would be perfect if they would just change the pictures on the website.

Again, I'm sure the forum members will thank you for bringing up this issue and allowing me yet another opportunity to beat this horse that was dead long before I ever started beating it several months ago, on a regular basis.

The forum members are well aware that they were granted life for the sole purpose of reading my rants on the subject of AE's crappy website pictures.

Is it too late for you to start the ancient chinese practice of foot binding?

Just break your toes, fold them under your foot, and wrap them as tight as you possibly can. Then you are good to go as long as you make sure to keep it nice and tight![IMG]

Why would people get upset I brought it up? Crappy pics are crappy pictures period. This is the 21st century, their website needs to be updated as well. Someone should email the CEO and voice their opinion.

since almost all hockey skates made my feet hurt but I was seriously competing, I went down in sizes enough to make my feet go numb shortly after lacing up. Also gave me better edge control while keeping the top eyelets un-laced.

of course, it was probably also a major contributor to the permanent nerve damage I suffer with now ....

Yeah... I bet if they had chainsaws in china back then they probably would have just done that. It's so much more practical right?

I just emailed an outlet to ask about seconds and they had one left in any size...10.5B in black. It's a half size off and not even the color I want but I felt like I had to make the purchase because of fate and all.

Thank you for your perspective, i think i agree with you.
But i can't figure out how. From what i know, creasing on toe cap should happen when the shoe is too big... And in my case it's impossible! :brick:
Before buying them i tried the AE size chart at home and to that i should be 11D.
Then i tried them in store, but in Italy i could findjust the PA or Strand and just in EEE width: 11 was like a boat, 10.5 was a bit big, so i opted to order them in 10E. When they arrived they were tight and they are becoming ok just now after 6-7 wears...
Could it be just a width error?
Or maybe it's just the wrong last for my foot...

Does Cordovan Leeds only come in Burgundy and Black? Are other colors special order only?

Yes but doing a dark brown MTO would be no problem and most likely take the same time
